Superior Drum 2.3 available.

For those Superior drummer users would appear that 2.3 is available for download.

I guess I should check my inbox more often. I almost always find out about these things on the forum first. Thanks, Wookie.

Googled for the link...wouldn't you know it, the warez sites already have the update before I do.

It wasn't until I recently installed all my stuff onto the new PC that I realised how far out of date I was on some of the updates.

Weird thing for me and Toon.  I get their emails all the time (I think they use Constant Contact) and when I click on the link to take me to the Toon site I just get a cannot connect error dialog.  Everytime.  Perhaps its just on my laptop at work.  But always amuses me.  I even wrote them to give them a heads up about it figuring if it was happening to me, could be happening to a lot of other folks as well.  Didn't hear back tho.

I did not get an email either but thanks for the heads up. Toontracks should pay a communication fee to the Cakewalk forum.

I downloaded the update but it contained no information about the update itself other than some brief installation instructions. No fix list. The readme file promised more details via the "Support Portal", but none exist there. The FAQ reads:

    Fixed in version 2.3,0:

    - TBA

TBA? To Be Announced, presumably at some unspecified future date.

The email does say there are two new features:

"multiple hits emulation", which softens the attack of subsequent rapid cymbal hits. This might save some work, as I routinely do this manually by adjusting velocities for closely-spaced cymbal hits.

There is now a means for doing on-the-fly cymbal mutes, using aftertouch or a note-off event. Very cool. But the latter option raises some questions. In SONAR, you cannot specify a note-off event, as it is implied in the note duration. Does this mean that you now have to pay attention to note lengths in drum tracks? I hope not.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.
