Morning rant...again.

I've started building my shop and I know it will be many
months before I can build anymore guitars but I've learned
something I won't be forgetting....

I will not be shipping guitars out of the country to England again. Never.
I have reasons and they have upset me. Unlike many that
I've wittnessed here being upset I have a different
way of "releasing". I move on when something that I can't change
upsets me.
I know the minute I made the decision not to it ever again-I was relieved. Knowing
that the issue would never effect me again.

There are easy ways to get negative "things" out of ones life.
Rather than spend my time explaining to others and/or debating their
suggestions/alternatives for an exceptable resolution or procedure
to continue or "repair" the issue , it is much easier just to avoid it altogether.

I'll end my rant by saying that the English government will never screw
another Englishman because of me sending them a guitar. I'm certain
that I care more about that than they do.
I'll also say that I've always wanted to go to England....that's changed
too.

"Due to the announcement that our English friends will not longer be able to import the rare and coveted 'Spacey Guitars', the Department of Homeland Security has reported that British citizens are flocking to the US in vast numbers.  In this rush of humanity, US Customs officials have found it increasingly difficult to tell the real British citizens from imposters with cleverly forged documents.  In addition, the fact that most officials are incapable of discerning the difference between English and Austrailian accents has led to the following entry requirement.

In order to enter the US with a British passport, one is now required to perform the 'Chimney Sweep Dance'.  While some civil rights advocates decry this blatant act of profiling as illegal, unethical, and morally reprehensible, a spokesman for the Department of Homeland Security responded that, 'We are going to show the world that the English are not the only ones with a dysfunctional government!'."

I've been there once.  I reckon it's been a bit over-rated in the past.

Import duty, VAT?  The British government sound much worse than Bouy Enterprises inc.  They should outsouce all taxation issues to me.

I'd get it sorted.....  for a small fee of course.

    I agree....it's a joke.

I didn't have much to do or say about the taxes...non of my business...BUT
when they tax a citizen for filing a claim form with a business that caused
the form to be filed...well there is just nothing right about that.

I'll explain....UPS entered the wrong value on an item I shipped to England.
It happened in part because the shipping information was entered at a later
time due to their computer system being down and a person not being able
to read their on writing ( I guess) but entered a value 10 times higher than
what was indicated. Then mailed it.
The person receiving the package was at least, surprised but didn't want to
send the package back because the freight charges would be doubled on the sender.
Well UPS knew they blew it and gladly gave the form to submit and phone number
which was provided to the receiver in England to receive the refund for UPSs' gas.
The receiver then was faced with having to pay 50 pounds to file the UPSs' form with UPS.

They can carry on without me because I'm not going to deal with their BS...I have
enough of that here in the US.  So I kinda got it figured out now....UK + US = BS.
Right or wrong that's how my little brain gets it.

If something upsets me personally I don't really care and do the same.

If however the behaviour I'm seeing upsets the general atmosphere of the whole place then I'll fight and argue all the way.  Certainly this policy has led to some improvement in the behaviour of the two individuals who decided to target me, perhaps that has had some 'knock on' effect too.  I'd say that was worthwhile effort even if some think I may be a jerk for doing it.

Truly though, none of the negative interaction that happens here affects my daily life away from the interaction I choose to participate in here.

Jon I do believe we may be talking two different things.
If I were upset as many here about my computer and this software....I'd definately
    find me a better way.
I trashed and given away hundreds of dollars in equipment/software rather than dealing with the BS issues....I have better issues to solve worth a hell of lot more than the cost and/or time of dealing with those type of problems.

Dealing with people as I believe you are referring...not what I was talking about. And
not something I care to. Don't have a dog in that hunt.

Aye, but registering some dissatisfaction when a company falls below it's own hype is good customer service.

    I consider it my duty...

I tell 'em what I do like too.... not least when I buy the product.

Hey Mike, I know what you're saying, because I live with it every day at work.  My company is the product of the merger of a bureaucratic Canadian-American Corporation with an even more bureaucratic British Corporation.  The resulting beast has 50,000+ employees worldwide, and probably like 100,000 committees.  It's a miracle anything ever actually gets done.

I understand. I must say though, you know much more about not only Sonar but other software for recording so you
can make comparisons and more than likely have more ideas about capabilities that the software could offer than
one such as myself....I have very little use for most of the features that don't pertain to capturing audio...very
little use for midi, and none for writing, making or sending off files for CD's etc....and just a lot of what is "fat" for my use.

And if I did need that fat and it wasn't working and hasn't worked with no sign of it ever being corrected then to hell with it....I'd move on. There's people around here ****ing and moaning about crap they say they've been putting
up with for years..I've listened to them for years..well I think they're fools. They should be smart enough to move on if what they're saying is true.
I'd be damned if I'd hang around here ****in about problems that have existed and ruined my enjoyment for YEARS!
That's as friggin nuts as it gets.

I also file my problems that I think may be bugs. And the few that I did were and I wait for the updates. I've been
operating with this software since 1999 and have been recording all I care to with very few issues, very few times but again...I don't need everything it's trying to offer. I could easily get on here and **** about the video....but rather than being a fool it's easier to use Vegas...video is what they do!
People thinking this audio program should wipe there  their ass and the bakers apparently trying to make it so and ****in the whole time...nuts with them.

I'm not using the software and reporting every thing I think they need to add or correct. I'm using it because
it works for me. I don't complain about them adding crap to it that others want...and then **** because it's a BS feature to me that won't work.

Should I ever need to record and this software won't perform....bye. I'll find some that will. It's not my job to tell
them what to do...if they need people to tell them how to make recording software maybe they should be selling
    shoes or something.

But however you handle it...I sure don't mind.

There's no place to move on too.

    :-(

I'd move on... for all the reasons you state... but I feel that SONAR is as good as it gets as a all arounder DAW and as such it is the natural candidate for my attention.

If I didn't use SONAR there is no question in my mind that it would take 2 or 3 DAWS to replace it's range of functionality.

That is, really, what it is all about for me... if I abandon SONAR I abandon the dream of a full studio in a box... and I'm back to facing all the media management and transfer issues I hope to evolve from and leave behind.

    best regards,
    mike

    Hi,

I would pay for you to create a nice, headless bass ... I don't have the loo to purchase one of them Stratus Graphite ones! And I like that small 5 string one!

Phil I was letting peers at work know about it and I found out that my super had sent a shipment of valves
worth enough to retire a few of us- to help some company out that couldn't get them...I don't know if it was a time
frame or availability issue for them but they refused them due to the taxes and sent them back! Now our company has paid a big freight charge to ship all the valves to England and back!!
Now how many times do you think that is going to happen? I know the answer. We're not even in the business
    of selling valves LOL.
I can't help but wonder....is England sinking?...it seems they don't want stuff coming into the country and I guess
the charges for stuff that makes it in is to pay those folks that have to blow in the air line connected to the floats..??

Mosh if you're serious, cause I can't tell, I'm sorry. I'm not building until I finish
an important project that is going to take a good deal of time. Maybe someday
    we can do something.
