Narrowing down my choice for SONAR control surface

Good Morning All,

I was looking at both the VS-20 and VS-100 as possible control surfaces for SONAR (8.5), but they both have alot of extra functionality that I don't really need (audio interface, recorder, effects, etc).  But then I had a look at the A-800PRO, which seems to do what I need, but I'm wondering how well it functions as a control surface.  Currently I am using a Behringer MIDI controller, but it's not that good and I was looking to get a new one anyway, so the A-800 seems to take care of all my needs.

Any feedback on using the A-800PRO as a control surface?

Thanks in advance!

JC
EDIT:  Well, it seems that you can expand the IO of the Octa-Capture (which is what I am using) along with the VS-100, so this changes things and may make the VS-100 more appealing.  Anyone doing this?

I haven't got an A800 but I do use it's predecessor the PCR800. That is very good I can only assume the new line is at least as good and probably better.

It's not my main form of control but very handy when I'm at the keyboard. A breeze to set up and not something I even think about now, it's just there. Another bonus is the control maps which are easy to store and recall so it's usable for multiple things.

I have one for my drum machine, another for my synth as well as the Sonar one. It comes preset with SOnar, cubase, etc so there's no need to worry about that side unless you want to.

I have the A Pro 500 and really like it. The aftertouch is not real good but it works great with X1.
