Tascam US 1800 post fader?
Hi all: Hoping someone has a comment on an issue I am having. My old FW 1184 died and I replaced it with a US 1800. The US 1800 seems to be working post fader on my X1. Is this the fact or does someone else have the same experience? Thanks. Mike

Still no response. Can't have been that important, then.

all input devices are pre fader in sonar. there is no way for sonar to affect the incoming signal before it gets to the hard drive. I agree with JazzSinger - you need to explain more about what you're seeing.

personlly I will not buy tascam audio devices because their drivers are crap. I had hoped they had figured that out when they came out with the US1800, but there are still people on the forums complaining about their drivers. tascam makes good hardware. but they cannot create solid drivers for the hardware and without good drivers the hardware is practically useless.

I can't figure out how to use all inputs and outputs! I can only use inputs 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 and 13... Does anybody know how to solve this?

The drivers are indeed dodgy (well, the 1641 was). The 1800 is electronically improved (external transformer, power supply circuitry further away from audio circuitry, no signal lamp anymore which removes clicks problem on hi-z signals) But I use ASIO4All now and have had no more issues. Nahuelibor: you can use each pair as a stereo pair, or left and right individually. What is admittedly confusing is that Input 2 is in fact Input 1 Right and so on.

those are stereo pairs. US-1800 mic in 1 = mic in left 1 and mic in right 2 same for output. us out 1 = left + right when you go to choose an input for recording on the track, you can choose from mic 1 left or mic 1 right (usually is the way it states it)

Yes you select Mike one left for #1 and Right for #2 Left is odd numbers right is even numbers. Lot's of interfaces work this way. Just a note, My us 1641 is now working perfectly under Windows 7 64 bit. The new drivers seem to be solid as a rock, about time. A company like Tascam should pay attention. Now this could also be the new improved computer. But anyhow, there is hope.

(and I'm still angry with them about Gigastudio... )
