Solved : Expanded install - stupid user alert - please help.

Did a bonehead thing… purchased SONAR expanded with the PC4K Expander/Gate option.   When installing I installed the SONAR X1e Expanded Installer, no problem.  After which I noticed you needed to install the Producer X1c patch first.  I am able to open SONAR expanded and have not gone any further.  Is the Patch essential?  If so any other way around having to uninstall SONAR and starting from scratch? I tried system restore, but did not work…. Boy am I dumb….

Are you sure you didn't already have X1c installed? I'm pretty sure Expanded won't install without it, but I could be wrong about that.

In any case, you'll probably need to uninstall completely and then reinstall with the updates in the proper order.

    Is the Patch essential?

    yes i would think so..

i would reinstall just to be on the safe-side. im' guessing Expanded was coded to work in the current fuctionality X1c.

Scott, I'm looking at the cover of your sonar X1 power book now. How come you didn't cover this possibility in there???  Anyway, I've been away from Sonar for a few weeks just getting back to it.  I did always update the patches.  So I'm suspecting that I did install patch earlier but forgot about it.  when was the c1 patch available?  thanks a bunch...

    Hi Randy,

Ha! Yeah, I wish I had all the answers.  The X1c update came out around August 18th, as per the update page here on the Cakewalk site:

    Thanks for reading my book!
