Stealthpedal problems in Music Creator 6
Hi I just purchased Music Creator 6 a couple of days ago and so far it's a great purchase. I've just been having one problem I can't seem to solve. I am using a Stealthpedal to record guitar parts. Now, the thing is, even with the both inpout/output channels set to Stealthpedal, I am not hearing any playback during recording (also when not recording), while the track itself records my playing. However, if I play the part I recorded, I can hear the guitar no problem. I figured there must be a problem with the output channel. There are two input and two output channels and also one for headphones, which I normally use and I though that there could be a conflict of sorts. What bugs me is that the recorded parts play back fine. I hope I just missed some settings somewhere. I checked all my drivers, they are up to date and looked through these boards and internet for a solution but it keeps evading me, so I am asking for any advice or help you guys and gals might have. I am using Windows 7 64bit, ASIO driver mode for Stealthpedal. When using Amplitube 2 in standalone everything works fine, so I'm truly at a loss. If you need any other details about my rig or software I forgot to include, I'll happily supply it. Thanks for any advice and patience with a new Music Creator 6 user.

so, you can select the SP..... it records OK into the track, (you can see the new wave in the track?) and hear it on playback (how do you hear it?... with headphones?) but you can't get sound form the speakers? What do you have the track output set to and also what do you have the master buss set to? What is the soundcard you selected?

Have you clicked the track's input echo button?

Thanks for the quick replies. The track records my playing and it shows the new wave on the track, I can also hear it on my headphones on playback. The problem is, that I do not hear the guitar when playing, or recording. I've also tried the Amplitube plugin, again I hear nothing when recording but the selected settings (distortion, effect pedals) are applied when I record and are heard on playback. I tested the my MIDI keyboard and microphone on MME Driver mode and everything works fine, (I use my internal music card for that) but when set to ASIO and Stealthpedal the only problem is not hearing the guitar except on playback (I always use headphones). I suspect that a possible problem could be with the multuple output options on Stealthpedal, you have two regular outputs (and inputs) and an extra output for the headphones. During track output selection I can only pick one Stealthpedal output, while I have options for left and right input for recording. I also tried the input echo button but it's the same, still no sound. I left the master buss on standard settings, I double checked that everything is set to Stealthpedal, perhaps I'm just missing something but I can't seem to figure it out.

If you are using the internal sound card you would likely need to use MME drivers..... I looked up the stealth pedal.... it is, according to the info/specs a full fledged audio interface built into a foot pedal..... with 2 ins and 2 outs. It looks like the SP uses ASIO drivers.... SO..... you can NOT use 2 different sound cards ( the SP & the internal sound card) and hope to get good results. There will be major issues between the 2 cards in timing and other factors. Using 2 cards at the same time is considered a no-no...... just use the better one, the one with ASIO drivers. I think you're trying to use 2 cards so you can use the internal one to hear the results in the speakers of the computer..... but that is not a good way to do it. You can use any powered speaker, or even run the output of the SP to a stereo aux in for the time being to test it out. Eventually, you'll want some decent nearfield studio monitors with built in power amps. SO...... disable the internal card (de-select it from active use by MC6) and load the SP as the ONLY card in use. Select the SP as input and output and use it's ASIO drivers. Also, it is recommended that you go to the SP's website and DL the most recent driver updates if any are newer than the ones on the CD that came with it. NOW.... you are saying , at this point you can record in, see the waves and hear the playback in the SP headphones. SO..... you need some amplified speakers to plug into the SP outputs. Have you tried using some powered speakers in the SP outputs yet? let us know.... it sounds like you are almost there.

you're trying to use 2 soundcards at the same time. that will always cause problems. when using the stealth plug, ONLY use the stealth plug. plug headphones into IT and use it ONLY when recording with it. if you're wanting to use the onboard soundcard, you'll need to be set to MME driver mode and use IT only. don't try to use the stealth plug at the same time and make sure that your INPUT and OUTPUT DRIVERS are NOT set to the stealth plug when you're trying to use the onboard soundcard. you might still have problems doing that because of sync problems between the two. they have different clocks. honestly, I'm not a fan of the stealth plug because of these kinds of problems. I prefer recommending a good USB soundcard like the ones I have listed on my website. if that doesn't work for you, it's POSSIBLE that you could get them to work using ASIO4ALL. google it, download and install it, then change to ASIO driver mode. this MIGHT work, but you might still have sync problems because you're still trying to work with 2 soundcards.

i agree with what Beagle says about the SP as a sound card.... I like to see users using a standard interface rather then the gimicky ones. oh... yeah ... have you clicked the track's input echo button..... ?

Hey Guys, thanks a lot for all the advice and the hearty welcome, I'll try it all out as soon as I get back from a business trip on friday. I'll double check if its the input echo button, although I'm quite sure I've tried that one. I hope its just a conflict with the soundcard and SP, and thanks Guitarhacker for the good suggestions, and Beagle, lots of useful information on your website, truly a good read. Will keep you posted when I figure it out. P.S. It seems that all my editing and paragraphs get lost when I post using Quick Reply, sorry for the hard to read lumped up posts.
