Vocal Pre-Amp/Compressors?

Ive had a Drawmer 1960 for years, Im not sure if its any good, but was looking for opinions on whats out there thats great to replace it, as im experiencing an overdriving effect on it even after replacing the valves on it. Regards

    If it's fairly old, I would suspect the power supply voltages are low and what is causing the distortion.  Probably recapping the power supply will bring the voltages back to where they should be.  This is a relatively inexpensive fix and if the unit has been working well it's cheaper than spending several hundred pounds for a new tube preamp.

    Call the guys at Mercenary Audio and ask them who they'd recommend to service the Drawmer. It's worth fixing. They have been importing Drawmer for a long time.

    Keeper - you are not likely to find something as good as the 1960 for what it would cost to repair it.  Have someone find out what is wrong with it and give you an estimate.
