Hard Times (good old slinky Blues)
No preaching or scolding on this song. These are hard times for a lot of people (lost jobs -- or the threat of losing your job, foreclosed mortgages, can't afford to get sick, etc.). This is a story of one man's trials and tribulations during these "Hard Times" --- have mercy. Oh ya --- the vocal is meant to sound kinda tinny, as it does. Actually, I worked very hard to get it to sound like this. Why? ---- It is too long and boring of a story to take up your time. It's just a Freddy J quirk : ) As always your input, comments, crit's, feedback, and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Cool tune and great playing and singing! :) I'm just listening on a tiny laptop and earbuds, so take this with a grain of salt, but I had a bit of a hard time hearing the lyrics. What I'm hearing I like though. :)

Cool blues Freddie! The low end is lacking though and the vox could come up just a touch. Other than that, very well done! I love it!

Hey Robbie. You hit it. The Blues is a mission from God (weeeeeellll -- almost). Hi Janet. Thanks for the feedback. I think that you are right -- the vox could come up a tad. Thanks a million Frank. I very much appreciate the encouragement. You are much to kind sir. Thanks for the kind words Mark. Hey Robert. Ya, you're right. Janet pointed out the low vox also and I think that you are both right. Thanks for the listen and feedback. I appreciate it! Freddy J

Hi, Freddy, Nice job on this very cool vintage sounding blues number, this really sounds great! I do also agree with the above posters, that the vocals and guitar solo could come up a a couple of dBs to make them stand out just a touch better. Either way, dynamite job on this Freddie, you're definitely the King of the Blues, my friend! Have a good one, buddy! Bob

Slinky! I like the Captain Beefheart vocals, but they need a push as others have mentioned.

Hi Rik. Thanks for listening and commenting. I got all y'all's message through my thick head and certainly agree. Now I just have to find the file on my computer and tweek it. Thanks again. Hey Herb. Thanks for the feedback. Hard times is here and gettin' worser, fo sho (sorry - that's my best southern accent). Thanks Bruce. I appreciate you taking time to comment. Hey Bob. I very much appreciate the comments and feedback. I am not only trying to get a back-in-the-alley sound with the songs but also with the mix. I remember hearing an interview with Tom Dowd talking about his experiences at Atlantic and some at Stax. While it is hard getting that analog sound (I think?) with Sonar, he did mention some characteristics about the sound of that early era at Atlantic (e.g., heavy rhythm guitars but drums and bass slightly to the background, vocals up front, etc.). I'm not sure all that applies to the '50 electric Blues sound but I'm having fun playing around with it. Thanks again buddy. Hi James. Thanks a bunch for listening and commenting. Message received and song will be adjusted when the file is found. My computer is misbehaving badly and freezing up much too often. I guess that I am finally going to have to save up and buy a new one --- and its only about 8 years old :>) Freddy J

Hey Freedy this sounds great ! The only gripe I have is the vocal mix , a bit more up front to me would really make you and your song sound better . Everything else comes thru clean except for the vocals , alittle more of a upfront sound works for me but then again maybe you wanted it this way . Either way I loved the vibe you captured in your song . Nice work my friend ! Radio
