Notation in staff view for guitar tab

So, I have looked at the help file and I can't really locate a complete section on how to notate specific notations, such as quarter note that sustains through a half note. I was wondering if anyone has located such documentation as to how creative you can be with staff view. Another thing is, I really would like to be able to use the guitar tab feature in Music Creator in order to copy down song notes from something I am listening to. I can just place the notes which is all good and fine, but I was wondering how flexible is the tab feature in doing slurs and slides? Thanks! Nate

In staff view, you can do quite a bit. Surgical editing is what I call it.

In staff view, simply right click on the note in question that needs to be edited.  A new pop up opens and it contains a number of fields.

You can edit the pitch of the note precisely, independent of the current active key or scale, you can change the start time and the duration of the note.

One thing to note about midi.... if you have a half note on beat 1:00:000 that is a full 2 beats long and edit the  staff to add another midi half note on the SAME pitch at 2:00:550, the second note will start before the first note is released. The result is that the second not will not sound since it's start trigger is overridden by the existing "held" note. The solution is to edit the first note so the release happens at least one tick before the "on trigger" to the second note.

It is totally possible to hold one midi note and have a second third forth...etc.. start as long as they are all different pitch notes...and the synth is capable of polyphonic mode. (some are not).

On the tab thing.... being a guitar player, I have never used the tab function.  My first guess is that the tab is a very basic feature that is there maybe to show the notes in tab for those that want them.... as far as slurs.... IDK... my advice here.... F1 gets you to the help menu.... search the TAB feature there and see what it says about that.

Also.... printing those things, TAB & Staff, well, it was kind of an after thought and in the earlier versions it was very difficult to find. Again, I don't use MC for this so I'd have to hit F1 myself to print the staff/tab.
