Track and clip colors
I've searched and found a few posts on this but I'd like a definitive clarification, (if possible). I've fought it for years and I've come to the conclusion that it "is what it is". Track and clip colors do not update when adding or deleting tracks. Is this the intended behavior or have I just not figured out how to make it happen? In my work flow I move tracks around and add/delete tracks regularly. It sure would be nice if the default color scheme would update instead of my having to go through the entire project changing the track/clip colors. Thanks. Paul

I'm not sure I follow you. are you asking if the next track left after deleting should turn into the color of the one that was deleted?

Paul G Track and clip colors do not update when adding or deleting tracks. Is this the intended behavior or have I just not figured out how to make it happen? Unfortunately, that's just the way it is (in 8.5.3). I have to do a lot of track color updating too, when I add/delete/move tracks around. I ease the pain a bit by using a keyboard macro device I have. I entered a Feature Request for this long ago, but it was never acted upon. - Tom

Beagle I'm not sure I follow you. are you asking if the next track left after deleting should turn into the color of the one that was deleted? Hi Reece. Thanks for the response. As you all know, the default colors for tracks/clips are cycled every ten numbers. Tracks 1,11,21 etc. would all be the same color and so on. If I add or delete a track the numbers update, (if I delete track #4, the former track #5 now becomes #4) but the colors do not update! IOW, the new track #4 still has the default colors for #5. AFA I can remember it's always been this way and I've dealt with it by manually changing the colors to match the defaults but it's time consuming and frustrating. I've been meaning to post this question for years. If there is a way to fix this I'd sure like to know what it is. Thanks.

ah, I see. yeah, that's the way they designed it. and I agree with you it would make more sense if they kept them on the same scheme whenever one is deleted or added.

I'd like an option for when you click "Insert Audio or MIDI Track" to popup and have a user preset list of colors one could select. And, an option as to whether that always pops up or never pops up (so it wouldn't irritate those not interested.) And, I'd like world peace. :)
