Studio One v2 - Not yet.
From my post on the Studio One forum: I liked the Mixer layout - the best I've tried other than Reaper 4 and much better than my home platform SONAR X1. I liked being able to see a lot of sends for purposes of creating multiple headphone mixes. I didn't try this out yet but I didn't see any reason that I couldn't create 4 or 5 individual headphone mixes using my 16 available output paths. Love the Listen Tool and the Bend Tool. Most times, I am never satisfied with automatic peak detection and sure enough I wasn't satisfied again but the bend tool allowed me to quickly place the transient markers where I felt they should be and then move my audio data where I felt it should go very quickly. I would love to further experiment with this feature and learn what else it can do. Folder tracks that have a fader and more or less becoming a bus is a definite plus and something I really like about Reaper 4 and something that SONAR X1 definitely lacks. I also like very much the ability to give mono inputs a friendly name in addition to the normal stereo Frontier Dakota names. Melodyne ARA is the primary reason I had a look at Studio One. I am actually in the market for Melodyne but I thought that since I'm looking to move to another primary DAW platform, why not kill two birds with one stone. The internal integration was a very pleasant experience and the limited time I spent with it felt rock solid. My overall impression with the software is very good. I like the simplicity of the program while containing the depth of features that have value to me in my style of working. My objections and the reason that I won't become a customer at this time was that my Alphatrack controller is not supported and the generic midi control did not seem to work (main fader) and was jerky with the knobs. I went to my Tranzport and most of the buttons and jog wheel work as expected but the punch in buttons did not modify the punch in and punch out points in Studio One. That kind of negates a big part of why I have the Tranzport - remote control from my ISO booth. The last issue was the lack of Track Templates. I use these a lot and not having them available is something I can't live with. So no, I won't be a customer at this point but I will be watching the development of the program and if the features I need become available or my hardware wears out, I will definitely evaluate whether Studio One will become my tool of choice. Thanks for making this a good experience.

It's great to see people being able to articulate their thoughts instead of just summing their opinions w/ blank statement. Though I am prone to do just that myself (blank statements). ;) I feel that this type of rational contribution can be beneficial, even here on Cakewalk's forum and certainly hope you'll keep on hanging around here no matter the software you use or will be using in the future. Don't know why I seem to be locked out of Studio One forums - either I get an insufficient privileges message or nothing shows up - no active topics, no nothing. Not that I posted anything controversial over there, I think I used the board once to ask a question about my downloads. Must be a browser/settings thing...

I can't get in to the S1 forum, either, at least not via Firefox. It shows I'm logged in, and my name is in the list of "who is online" at the bottom of the page, but no topics are listed. IE, however, works OK. I don't think it's Firefox, as I am still at version 5. I suspect it may have something to do with the recent Adobe Flash update, which causes hangs when attempting to view any YouTube video.

Question for those who have S1V2: I read on the forum that there are issues with freezing, er, "transforming to audio", and multi-out synths. Anybody tried it yet?

I was having the same issue back in September, well before the S1 2 madness.

I'm not sure if this is related but it seems to have issues with buffering here..if I was to export audio I have to set my buffers at 2048...otherwise it would get weird sounding..glitches, drop outs and such. Also, Predator has BIG CPU spikes when using it..as well as AT3.7...I posted some of that in that other Radu thing...

My main reason to stick with Sonar 8.5 right now was the fact that S1 doesn't seem to like Kontakt 5 (full version). S1 became sluggish after adding one instance of Kontakt and a few midi channels. There was a very noticable delay when trying to switch tracks. I have a template for Albion in Sonar 8.5 which has 4 instances of Kontakt 5 and 49 midi tracks and there is zero delay when switching tracks. Loading the project after a PC restart only takes about 5 to 10 seconds, and reloading is even a lot quicker. I am sure (well, I suppose...) this is a bug on S1 and that it will be solved, but it made me think about what I've got (Sonar 8.5) and what I need... I need something that works and that does what I want and Sonar 8.5 does that right now. So why spend money on something new (or updated, for that matter)? I noticed I had lost myself in the S1 hype and the idea that the grass is always greener on the other side... Stupid me. I am out of the DAW-war.
Sonar 8.5 PE, Edirol FA-66, Behringer C-1. All instruments in my songs are VSTi's. Check out Soundclick

Hey Bit, Try logging out then logging in again and see if it fixes the problem. I had the same issue with chrome last week and the logout and subsequent login cleared it up for me.

Well Reasoned, rational, helpful! I too have been looking hard at S1v2 as an alternative DAW, but I have been with Cakewalk since 1993 and I like Sonar, yes even X1, so it is nice to find well articulated opinions about S1v2 from long time and loyal Cakewalk users.
