Installing soft synths - dumb question

I'm sure this is a dumb question but I'm redoing my setup to make sure I'm doing things the right way.

When I'm installing a new soft synth, like Dimension Pro, what should the destination folder be?  Should it be a folder inside X1 or the main programs folder or something else?

I'm pretty sure I just guessed before but I don't want to do that again.

Thanks.

main programs folder (default), needed dlls will be copied to Sonar specific folder automatically (usually).

Typically, the dll files go to Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins  for 64bit plug ins or Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\Vstplugins for 32bit plugins

Samples libraries and your Cakewalk Projects folder are best installed on a separate drive if you have one. Just make  folders on a separate drive and name them Installed Samples and Cakewalk Projects or something, and when you install a softsynth that has sample content, browse to the Installed Samples folder you made, when the installer asks you where do you want to install the samples content.
