List View Bug

In list view while trying to insert a patch change via the patch browser, I can't use it because the list window catches the keystrokes. making the search function useless. Will this be fixed?

Hmmm. Guess I don't understand the problem. I can:
    1) Click on Insert Bank/Patch Change
    2) Click on the Patch Browser
    3) Double click on the patch I want to insert.
    4) Click on OK
and the patch change command is inserted.

Yes but not if you try to use search function in the browser. The List Window intercepts keypress or keystrokes before they get to the search box. Try looking for all tenors or all basses. One can not enter this in the search window.

The patch browser alone is uneffected because one uses the mouse only.

By the way this did not happen in Sonar 2 or 1.

Search works just fine for me. You have to put your cursor in the search box before typing anything.

Well, at least I see what you mean now. When you open up that panel in Sonar 2, the cursor is already in the search box. In Sonar 3 it's not. Oh well, one more keystroke.

It matters not where the cusor is for me. Ok what you need to get is the keypresses will only be intercepted if they are part of the quick access to the List window menu. This is not a debate as to whether or not the bug is there I have found that useing the search feature with the worng keypress such as T, S and so on will default to the List view menu and not enter it into the search window.

It work find in the Track view too. But not in the List view. Please, understand that I am only talking about the LIST View while trying to insert a program change via the search feature of the patch browser.

I guess I am not describing this as well as I should.

I'm trying to follow you here, but I'm confused about what you mean by the List View ... do you mean the Event List? If so how are you opening the Patch Browser from there? Can you list the steps like a recipe so I can try? Cakewalk is very good at fixing bugs if they know exactly how to repro them.

YES you got it. In the Event List View as you correctly say, when you try to insert a program change into the it by inserting a new event and then making it a PC double clicking on it will bring the patch browser up. There one can impliment a search for a patch. The icon is a folder for the search. In Sonar 2 one then typed in a search word such as sax. and all the sax patches would be shown. Now with Sonar 3 any keypresses for inputing into the search dialog box is intercepted by the Event List window menu. This will change the events shown in the Event List view but will not let one input a search. Is this now clear? I hope :)

Thanks for understanding what I am saying

btw This is one of the best features in Sonar, Cubase has nothing like it. Logic never had a patch search feature.

Thanks for the extra info. The first time I tried it, it worked fine. Then it dawned on me ... "I wonder if it works differently if the Event List is floating?" Yup, that's the key. You must have the Event List floating. It works fine if it's not floating.

It made me think they should really lock all threads more than a year old. Solve a few issues.
It also seems the new heading " Producer" is still not working and half the new posts are for X series still. But once a month we get a real thread happening.
