First you'll need to save with Per Project Folders, to retain all the audio.
Then, either snail-mail a DVD of the entire folder (WAVs and Project File) or upload it to a web-based file share site.  I don't know the names off-hand, as I don't use them, but there are a few and others here use them.

Note that your friend will also need to have all the VSTs that you use in the project.

Right. Cakewalk files can be very large, especially if there is a lot of audio tracks. File sending services such as usendit can handle these large files.
For small projects, or all-MIDI projects, you can upload it to your own web site, if you have one, and make it available for download. I did that with a very small project. Of course, you would probably want to delete it after the other person downloads it, if you don't want the entire world having the song.

Generally Cakewalk bundles are the way to go (.cwb).  Almost everything gets put into one file (which is pretty big when it includes audio).

Another alternative to collaborating that may address what you are after is using

    Digital Musician Plugin

This is a cloud type music collaboration web site that uses a VST to let people collaborate over the internet without dealing with large file transfers.  The .CWB files can get pretty big.
