(updated ?) Unlocking Cake mp3 in X1 ?

Update- Let me ask a different question. I installed X1 on another hard-drive on my computer (win7) but I still have the v.8.53 (XP) on another drive. The mp3 works on this drive. Is there a way to get X1 (win7) to recognize that I have the encoded version on the XP drive? Unlocking Cake mp3 in X1 ? I recently installed X1 - 64bit on Win7. I wanted to make a quick mp3 copy of some work that I did today....but.....no....”I have to unlock the mp3 converter in Cake” LOL..... I have the key, or what ever I got with my first “pro audio” How do I unlock X1 or, direct me to a link? Thanks

I don't think that encoder will work in X1, I had to upgrade to the new encoder when Sonar 7 came out. I still have the old one I purchased with GT 2.0 which I think was the same as the Pro audio one but didn't work in Sonar. Hope this helps.

I just did this in 8.5.
There is a file or folder on the first disc of 8.5. something related to "MP3" (i forget). There is an exe file in there. I executed it and it asked for my ProAudio9 disc (really). So, I fed it the PA9 disc. done.

You should be able to use the current version of the MP3 encoder. Try going to store.cakewalk.com and see if its listed in your account.

If you had the 32bit encoder, which is likely the case if from Pro Audio days, email Cakewalk and they will send(upload to your account) a file to unlock the 64bit version.  It will likely be at no charge but can not say for sure from that far back.  I had purchased mine with Sonar 6 and had no problem getting the updated version for 64bit with Sonar 8.

I never bought the code but for some reason I got expanded and now I get the ability to make mp3's. I don't think that this is supposed to happen but hey it is working. I am not going to complain.
