I have know of Prominy for some time but do not have any of their products. They used to be mentioned a bit when beople asked about faux electric guitar VST/libraries, but the attention now is on Orange Tree's Evolvlution Strawberry and Indiginus's Torch. I have Strawberry, Torch and Music Labs' Real Strat. I certainly don't need this one but for the price of a couple of beers I might just give it a go.

I'm a long time user of guitar sample libraries and VSTs. I have Orange Tree Samples Evolution Electric Guitar and all of the Pettinhouse electric guitars, as well as several others (I still have Virtual Guitarist!). I used to RealStrat, but sold it off after Evolution Electric Guitar came out. Prominy's SC (they had to change the name after infringing on Fender's Strat trademark) was, as far as I recall, the first giant, ultra-realistic electric guitar sample library for KONTAKT. I've known some people that own it and while they thought it was extremely detailed and realistic sounding, they also found it very difficult to use. Hence, the reason I never picked it up. But 15 bucks makes it tempting. As Evolution Electric Guitar - Strawberry is pretty close to the Les Paul, I kinda wish Prominy put the Strat out as a no-brainer. Anyhow, I'd be very interested in hearing a review from anyone who buys it to see if Prominy has improved product usability. (Disclosure: I've given several guitar devs whose products I use marketing advice over the years, including Pettinhouse, OTS and others.)

kurrykid, it's an excellent value for 15 dollars. I'd jump on it myself if I didn't already have an overabundance of Kontakt-based guitars.

Although 75% off is a great deal (plus my extra 10%) I may or may not bite. I'm the same fence as you, just down the road a piece.

I am really looking for solo violin without vibrato embedded, and I actually have a good instrument in that with EW Gypsy,it lacks some articulations I want though, I am too lazy to layer different articulations from different libraries to achice the sound in my head....

Hmmm. Nothing on the Celemony website about pricing. Odd that it's to be released in Nov. yet no price announcement. Maybe an internal debate on what to charge (especially since you can get it free in S1v2)?

OK...downloaded the LPC no probs. It is a "Stuffit" archive which they provide a link to. You can get a 30 day trial download of the expander...only when downloaded it won't install anything on my DAW. I've looked for other "Stuffit" expanders and have so far been stymied. Anyone know how to "unzip" this .SITX file??? It's late now and I'll try to figure it out tomorrow but Geeze Louise!!

Some of the users at KVR were praising this and actually gave some constructive reviews, but it uses 350MB per instance......so, this may be an issue for less powerful DAWs. Olpal, what's your take on this?

Anubis Are there any "clean" sounds on this or is it all heavy distortion? As I understand it it completly clean, straight from the pickups. You then use the amp sim of your choice. Maybe some one who has it will confirm.

You'll have to have "Stuffit Expander" to unrar it. It's actually about 1.5 gigs.

Sorry...Glyn, I meant the "unrared" file is very small. But the total file after expanding is about 1.5 gigs. My link in the email for Stuffit Expander seemed to download and install OK. But then nothing would happen when I tried to extract the file. I had to download Stuffit Expander from another site to get it to work. Everything OK now.

No worries - I guess I know why they use Stuffit, it certainly seems to compress a lot more than ZIP. The total size, unstuffed is 1.74 GB. It looks like everything is there WAV file , NKIs, Wallpaper, documentation etc. I am traveling until after the deal expires and don't have Kontakt on my laptop so I can't try it but it looks like its all there.
