Degraded Output Sound

Have used Audacity for recording music - guitar and vocal - but no experience with Sonar.

Just installed Sonar X1 Studio.  Attempting to use UCA 202 as interface.  (Audacity has no trouble with this device.)  Can get some sound in distorted bursts.  The playback stops about every 0.7 seconds.  Might be laptop?

Driver mode is MME (32-bit).  Have ASIO driver installed, but Sonar doesn't find the UCA 202 if ASIO selected.  Sampling rate 44.1 and bit depth is 16.  Tried 24-bit also.

I've watched the on-line video about configuring an audio device.  Have an M-Audio Fast Track Pro on the way, but hoping to use Sonar sooner.

Thanks for responding.

I am just trying to play back the Sonar Demo.  Was able to do so with laptop integrated sound card, Sonar defaults, but could not record anything, so trying the UCA 202.

Welcome to the forum.
Although Behringer's product page on the UCA states that it's plug and play "no drivers needed", they also list several available drivers for download. Have you got the latest driver for the UCA? The 64-bit one is for Win 7, but there is no Vista 64-bit driver. They also have a link for ASIO4All, not a true ASIO driver, but has helped quite a few folks.

If you download and install ASIO4All and later get an audio interface that has true ASIO drivers, remove ASIO4All from your computer before installing the new audio interface's software or downloading their latest drivers.

Thanks Greg.  I have the ASIO4All driver, and ran through sequence again - guess I didn't have the USB device properly selected in the ASIO4All pop-up driver window.  Got playback now, on to recording!

Sure like this help community - thanks again.
