Is Audiosnap phase-accurate between multiple drums tracks?
When quantizing a multi-track drum performance, it seems to loose bottom end and I can hear some flamming - I suspect phase issues developing from Audiosnap. Any opinions?

I'm thinking there some bugs there. I say this because I just spent days (yes days) trying to get 2 tracks to line up with phase issues and nothing worked. I re-read the manual and help files. I watched a number of the CW online videos for audiosnap. Nothing I tried helped. So I just think there's some issues there. I'm running X1-Expanded, so I don't know if this was happening in A/B/C. What version are you running please?

Hi Ba, I'll guarantee you there are issues, cause I just did it in that other DAW that now has a bad name around here, and it's perfect in all regards. I can see Audiosnap shifts the tracks by different amounts, where as the other one, version 9.05, shifts all the tracks by exactly the same amounts. I run X1C 32bit.

I haven't done any exhaustive investigation of this functionality, but if it's going to work at all you need to make sure of at least two things: 1. You're using Merge and Lock Markers so the stretching of every track is based on the same set of markers. 2. You're using the Percussion algorithm (or maybe Groove Clip), which is optimized to maintain timing of short transients vs. audio quality of sustained sounds.

Dave, I don't know about LBJ ... but here's how/what was happening with my project. 2 tracks (loops that were flattened so they are not groove-clipped). I audio-snapped one, and simply wanted to extract the groove. So I did so. 2nd track I applied and quantized. I could see the transients shift but they certainly weren't in perfect alignment. Some were way off even on what I'd call pretty strong hits. I wasn't even looking for the two tracks to be 'perfect' but not end up 'crappy' lol. Anyway - no amount of trying things like quantize, or clip follows project, etc. did any good. There always ended up either out of sync moments (often) or out of phase moments (often). So I'm thinkin' more "bug" than "proceducre" here. I must admit I've never found AudioSnap to be all that dependable / great, but this should have been a lot easier :( Any thoughts would be appreciated.

So, just to be sure I understand: You disabled markers on the second clip, applied the markers form the first clip, and then quantized both clips?

It never dawned on me I had to since it had not been snapped previously. Can you remind me how to disable markers on an entire track (is there a quick way)? Thanks.

Raise the Threshold slider to 100%. For tracks to stay in sync, they have to be using the same set of markers. Merge and Lock will apply all enabled markers to all selected tracks. This simplifies the process when you have markers across several tracks that need to be applied to all other tracks. In your case, with just one track with active markers, Apply is just as easy. And the "Lock" part of Merge and Lock doesn't really have anything to do with markers. It just locks the clip positions to prevent inadvertently moving a clip relative to one with which it's sharing markers.

I'm going to experiment later tonight when I have some free time. I'd like to be able to lock something down with the technique. I hate not knowing how to do what I need to do LOL I'll keep ya posted.

Okay, I give up. Where did they hide the MERGE AND LOCK command. Manual says to right click on any selected clip and MERGE AND LOCK. But I can't find the command. Btw, I'm using 8.5. Thanks
