VST Plug-in issue with X1 Expanded

I have searched for a solution but have not found one in the forum so pardon if this is redundant and I have not looked in the correct place for a solution.

I am running Win7 Pro 64bit
I have both 32 bit and 64bit X1 Expanded versions installed.

This issue is for the 32bit version. However I have not tried the 64bit but all 64bit VST's are in a separate directory.

In the Plug-in Manager I have been trying to reset all plugins but am finding that I can not remove the cakewalk and sonitus plugins that are located in the directory x:\Program Files(x86)\Cakewalk\Shared Plugins from the plug-in manager.

Although I remove the directory from the list in Options Scan Paths and click Reset All, they remain and the directory (x:/program files(x86)\cakewalk\shared utilities\internal) will not be removed from scan path list.  I have also changed the shared directory to a different name, tried reset and still they remain.

I have tried reinstalling X1 Expanded but their is not an option to change VST installations as there was in the previous Producer versions and reinstalling an older version (I.E. X1 Producer) does not work as per serial number differences.

I would like to change the directory in the plug-in manger that the VST's are installed in and do not understand why I cannot as the old plug-ins cannot be removed along with the shared directories from the plug-in manager as I never setup the manager up to use the shared folders in the first place. The older installation supersedes the new directory and will not load the plug-ins in the new directory. Any help is appreciated if anyone has run into this problem after upgrading to Expanded.

first - you're in the wrong forum - this is not the X1 forum, this forum is for Sonar 8.5 and below (legacy).

2nd - the cakewalk and sonitus plugins are DX plugins, not VST.  that means that when you installed them ythen you did so from the disk and they were installed with registry entries which is where sonar picks them up.  so if you installed the OLDER versions LAST then you get what you have.  you'd have to reinstall the newer versions from the disk to get the newer versions to be used in the plugin manager.

    x:/program files(x86)\cakewalk\shared utilities\internal)

I'm not sure I understand the whole issue, but just so you know:

/program files(x86)\cakewalk\shared utilities\internal is the path to Expanded's ProChannel modules. You don't want to remove that.

I am not sure I understand exactly either.  and I agree with brundlefly - if you're wanting to remove prochannel from the plugin manager - you should not do that.  PC is integrated as part of sonar and especially part of Expanded.  I know that some folks DID remove it, but it's my opinion that it should not be.

    x:\Program Files(x86)\Cakewalk\Shared Plugins

Those are DX plug-ins and SONAR will detect them regardless of what's in your scan path, which applies only for VST plug-ins. If you don't want to see the Sonitus plug-ins or anything else, use the Exclude function to hide them.

First: Sorry about the wrong forum. 8.5 Producer not X1 Producer. I saw producer and dove in. I have tried to delete this thread and start over but not happening can't find the delete button. Second: Yes DX is understood. Let me try and explain. I am trying to pick up my Novation Automapped versions of the plugins and the Sonitus automap versions of the plug-ins are not showning up in the plugin browser. I had not seen the shared internal directory in the plug-in manager before the upgrade which is not the correct directory location for the DX plug-ins its the shared plugin directory. You have addressed that, Thank you. I thought the internal directory had to do with Expanded anyway in looking at the directory structure. However, not sure why after upgrading to expanded the Automapped wrapped DX plug-ins will no longer show up in the Plugin Browser. As I am certain they were before. These were in my main VST directory and not the shared plugin directory created by Cakewalk as I had not pointed to them in the Novation Automap Manager in the past. I thought if I were able to remove (from the plugin manager) the sonitus plugins that are located in the shared plugins directory that the manager would find them in the VST directory and load the automapped versions. I have not been able to do that as it appears the Cakewalk created shared plugin directory takes precedents and will not load the others. I have even tried renaming the shared plugins directory to Old and they still load. :) Thanks anyway.
