metronome settings

Hello, I just set up sonar 8 metronome to sound on recording, on midi note f#3, successfully, however, when I change the velocity to speed up or slow down the metronome, nothing happens(it plays at the default velocity). Is there a setting that would enable this feature? All suggestions welcome, thanks.

    Oh a double post?? Velocity is a midi value for soft or hard attack of a note,, the harder you strike a piano key or hit a drum pad. You are talking about tempo. If you have downloaded and opened a file there will be tempo map so open the tempo editor to make changes.
