Audio Device's

I just purchased  sonar 7 producers edition and after i installed it onto my laptop and i tried opening it i got a message saying " the following drivers either do not support the current audio format, or are in use by another application". I hav realtek hd audio installed on this laptop, and trying to use a instrument usb cable to record. Any ideas on how i can get this to work? im new to using this program so any help or suggestions is greatly appriciated. Thanks

    So, it doesn't work?
That message usually means that you've selected a driver mode, sampling rate or bit depth that the sound card doesn't support. Did the wave profiler run when you opened SONAR the first time?
Under Options>audio, what is listed for Driver mode, sampling rate, bit depth, playback and recording timing masters (devices) and what drivers are selected?
What is your operating system and is it 32- or 64-bit? What model is the instrument to USB device?
I think you will get a more satisfactory recording experience by getting an audio interface designed for recording and ditch the instrument to USB thing. Depending on the device. Some newer ones are 2-way, meaning the are real sound cards with ins and outs and can be used to monitor the recording and playback.
Older, one-way devices cause problems since you have to use 2 sound cards, one for input and one for output, and that can cause synchronization problems.

Dont use the Realtek and get a dedicated audio interface made for recording programs. These onboard cards lack the drivers, converters, and 1/4" inputs. There also made with the cheapest materials and these cheap sound cards are in todays pc's because the pc maker will cut corners on things like this.
