S90es midi problem with X1 Producer
gosh, I may have already posted this b4 but it is a pain. Only since X1 have I had a problem with the S90es getting echo back or equivalent no matter what channel I am on in Sonar X1. I have local off and have been using midi since midi was introduced but can't seem to find a solution. I have changed to different omni/none settings but nothing seems to work. To be more clear, if I am playing Ivory or my play instruments and have the volume of my S90 up I will hear the piano (channel 1) always playing as well when I am tracking. I would be very happy for a fix. Thank you P.S. I am using S90usb midi and X1c

☄ Helpful
Are you maybe building all your projects from a template that has a hidden MIDI track echoing to the S90? What if you change the S90's receive channel? How is the S90's output being monitored? Even if it's somehow receiving MIDI, you shouldn't be able to hear it unless there's an audio track in the project echoing its output. If you still have 8.5 installed, does it not do this with the same project loaded?

maybe it help if you'll turn LOCAL OFF in your synth? The original post already mentioned it is OFF, though triple-checking never hurt anyone.

I suspect folks are over-thinking this...there are two ways of getting the effect you describe...and the clue is that you are hearing a piano on the s90es. 1. one is eliminated by turning local echo off on the synth..this prevents the midi information from the keyboard going to the sound generator of the s90es 2. the second is by turning off input echo on your track in Sonar..by default it is on, and when on it will simply return the incoming midi information back down the same channel..and go straight to the sound generator, and if a patch or pc is not set..it invariably plays a piano

there are two ways of getting the effect you describe The third of the two ways: The S90 is connected to the MOTU by MIDI DIN cables as well as being connected to the DAW by USB MIDI, and the MOTU is routing MIDI IN back to OUT internally without having to go through SONAR.
