Too bad 8.5 isn't supported any longer. When X1 first came out I worked on it for a week, went back to 8.5 it was cumbersome & a bit archaic. I then removed 8.5 from my system completely & don't miss it at all.. Just wish it was de-bugged & gapless. Then I would write this post in BIG RED FONTS.

I'm actually at the point now where I resent having to load 8.5.3 in order to work on older projects. I've also had some success opening older projects within X1, so maybe, just maybe, 8.5 will soon be a dim & distant memory.

Shawn, I would not go so far as say "It's Better" .............. but I agree with you in the sense that I also UN-INSTALLED X1 after several months and returned to 8.X ............... Personally, I just like the more serious looks and function and crash free stability of it better than X1. .......... X1 seemed too much like Studio One for me, and while there were many interesting features, I disliked the "Un-Smart Tool" and it seemed the MIDI area took a step backwards, not to mention the appearance of the graphics was a big step backwards to WIN 3.1 and CGA days.

P.S. I should add, I only went as far as X1a, and so I can't comment on anything X1C may have finally fixed to make it more reliable and stable and glitch free. ----- But in all fairness, I never jump to every upgrade in a system path normally. With Windows, I tend to get every other OS. So with Sonar, I will probably stay with 8.X as long and hardware and new operating systems support it ............ then one day in the future, I will of course need to make a big jump into whatever Cakewalk has by then ........... X3, X4 maybe ??

My first reaction was "a spam thread" because of the LARGE add in the signature. That should not be allowed. I don't care how long you've been here and how (un) helpful you are. Can't we keep our signatures a little more subtle? Besides it makes me have to scroll further to get past it!!! More coffee,,, I need more coffee...

You'd think if he had one ounce of sense, he wouldn't place his ad where there are a lot of potential customers and then piss us off with his comments. OK... Stay with 8.5... I felt that way about some of the earlier versions, but then over time as the old version became more dated, the upgrade started looking good.
