How to disable midi control messages?

Hi,

I'm using Jamstix for my drum track in Sonar VS,but I'm having problems with my hi-hats playing open as opposed to closed.Ralph from Jamstix has instructed me to turn off all cc4 midi controller events in my Jamstix midi track in Sonar.Aren't cc4 messages foot control messages?
I didn't even know I had any there!And how the hell do I turn them off?It's driving me nuts!!
Please,any help would be MUCH appreciated!!
