i7 Sandy Bridge on board graphics?

I have been re-researching components for a new system.  If I build a new machine around the i7 2600 sandy bridge processor do I need a separate graphics card or could I use the onboard graphics?  I'm still a newb but I'm looking to save some cash building my own.  If I stay this confused however I will be having a system built.

    onboard is ok for most
