Need help deciding between these two processors.

Need help deciding between these two processors.

1. HP AMD Athlon II x4 645 3.1Ghz, 6MB cache, DMI 4.0 GT/s
6GB-Ram expandable to 16GB

2. HP i5 2300 @2.8Ghz 6MB cache
4GB-Ram expandable to 8GB
So if both processors were maxed out to their full Ram capabilities, which would put out better performance?

    first wrong choice HP.. or any cheap off the shelf.
    but to your question
    both are old and slow compared to newer gen
    the intel would be faster but not by much

    Thanks for the heads up. So if not HP, who would you point to? I was told by a cpu repair tech to stay away from ACER and GATEWAY... said he sees them breaking down alot.

    They all do. build your own.

    ASUS P8P67, i7-2600K, CORSAIR 16GB, HIS 5450, 3 Samsung SSD 850, Win7 64, RME AIO.

    Not an easy job. Must have really, really tiny hands and exceptional eyesight.
