FX Plug Ins - what do you recommend?

Anyone have any suggestions on good professional sounding FX plug ins?

How about outboard stuff?

Thanks :)

My favourite reverb is probably Aether from 2c Audio and chorus syntorus from D16, but it really depends what type of music you want it for of course!

Nomad factory blue tubes has a couple of great effects, including an oil can echo which is pretty cool.  The chorus ain't bad, and neither is the delay.  Sounds a little different than most.  You can pick up a deal on the blue tubes effects sometimes.

Sonar comes w/ pretty decent reverbs IMHO....

Nevertheless, if you want something else, check out Valhalla Room.

Its affordable ($50), part of the profits goes to charity and the guy keeps on updating it and adding new algorithms for free. I bought it back in June IIRC and it's been updated 3 times since. Best bang for the buck, IMHO.

It sounds great, it's eminently tweakable, and I absolutely love the GUI - easy to read, tool tips for every parameters, etc.

If you're thinking outboard, I personally would get the outboard emulations: UAD-2 (which exceed outboard sonic quality)

Because Win 7/64 is the reasonable standard, I'd stay clear of Waves and other 32-bit obsolescence which cw tech support also rejects (Pro-tool fx's and such); use 64-bit when feasible.

I like Bluecat Audio's free stuff. They have a nice chorus.

If you are looking for one bundle that is reasonably priced that can handle just about anything you throw at it then get the FabFilter total bundle and augment it with the SofTube TSAR1 reverb.  Totally top of the line and wide ranging.

If I had the dosh (or they did a 75% off Group Buy) I'd get the Pro Bundle.
