Setup question for Mackie 802-VLZ3

Hi there.  Calling all folks who own or have worked with the Mackie 802-VLZ3.  My mixer goes into my Maudio 2496 soundcard.  Playback from the computer is fine.  However I am having problems recording tracks.  Basically signal is not getting to the soundcard.  I have an external pre-amp with mic attached going into Stereo line in 3-4.  I am taking signal from the alt output to the soundcard.  When I hook up a mic, there appears to be no signal reaching the mixer.  It shows no level.  Also Sonar registers nothing.  Mic, pre-amp and cable have been tested.  They are fine.  So first question I have is, is the routing correct?  Am I missing any steps or buttons I should have pushed?

    Sunny,
check my website for a setup with a behringer xenyx 802.  the routing on the xenyx is very close the same as the mackie 802 (behringer's original design was based on the mackie).  if you follow the instructions for that 802 xenyx you should be able to hook up the mackie 802 with your soundcard.
