Focusrite pro 40 having issues with Sonar X1?

Hello Cakewalk world, I just enrolled in this forum for some very straight answers. First off I am using windows 7 64bit OS. 6 Gigs of ram and a SD hard drive. As well as I7 intel quad core processor. Obviously I have a beast of a machine. Here is my dilemma, I just got the focusrite pro 40 and I was running it with the old 2.2 drivers, because I found the latest drivers were horrible. Everything was working fine and then all of a sudden after a few weeks I started experienceing pops in the tracks on playback and a major delay in response when clicking the arm track and input echo buttons as well as a lot of audio drops outs? I am wondering if anyone out there can either explain to me that the focusrite is just not able to handle a lot of VST's ( I am using guitar rig 5 ) and a lot of different VST plugins specicially the IZOTOPE stuff like alloy nectar etc.. Is it the card? is it Sonar X1 not working well with focusrite and if so, can someone please advise to me based on the machine that I have, what audio interface will get the job done with no latency issues and delays when clicking arm and input echo etc. I have to ad in this one thing. I opened a completely new track with no effects running on it and was still getting the delays on the arm and input echo commands. Someone please tell me what the fix is or do I need a different audio interface. I love sonar X1 and don't want to go to a different DAW. Is there a audio interface that works better with sonar? or is the issue something else? Thanks in advance and am looking forward to an expert response from someone who knows what I am talking about:) Jeremy

There is a known issue with certain Focusrite interfaces and the delay in the recording arming in Sonar.  Focusrite is said to be working on new drivers.  But so far none have arrived.  Most folks, like me (I use a Focusrite Saffire Pro24 DSP) have just uninstalled the latest driver and gone back to the previous driver version.  YMMV.

Yes I have gone back to the older drivers and still the same issue? are you having issues with the arming and input echo functions with the older drivers? not sure what you are stating here. Jeremy

Yup...even with the older drivers I still get a lag between the time I click the record button and when it actually activates (same thing on the input echo button).

What kind of Firewirecard do you have? In my box is a La Cie Card with TI chipset and the newest driver for interface and card.No problems here at all,but another system , you see.

Hope it helps. Worked for me when I had the same problem.

I will have PCI FW card with TI chipset to sell.
Bad news is, that I live in Poland, so you'll have to wait for delivery, but I can send it wherever you are. I'm not American, who's affraid to ship anywhere outside neightborhood :P

It looks that my MOTU interface works great with oboard FireWire with VIA chipset!

back to issues with Focusrite - look at this link:
    http://www.gearslutz.com/board/music-computers/618474-audio-interface-low-latency-performance-data-base.html

it looks that Focusrite interfaces have not so good performance :-/

ONE ADVICE for all of you ecperiencing problems with FW cards or BSOD's etc:
more cards inside your computer = ore problems.
If you have any issues try to do this:
    1. go to system peferences / device managr
    2. UNINSTAL all graphic cards, WIFI cards, FW cards, or any other you plugged into PCIe or PCI. Uninstall them WITH DRIVERS, DO NOT SHUT DOWN COMPUTER! Then go to system peferences / programs and uninstall the rest of drivers for those cards
    3. Shut down, unplug from power, then open yur computer
    4. take out all cards
    5. plug in ONLY graphic card into first slot from the top
    6. plug in FW card into first slot from the top
    7. start your computer. If you have unused onboard graphic, FW, COM or LPT ports - disable them in BIOS. Then F10 and run system
    8. reinstall DRIVERS for graphic and FW.
    9. Restart, then shut down after system properly sees your extension cards
    10. plug in the rest of cards
    11. Power on

it takes no more than 10 minutes but IT HELPS. Mostly because of driver and IRQ problems.

I didn't own the model you have, but I just got rid of my focusrite scarlett 18i6.  I was having all kind of problems like crashes, blue screens, missing drivers from my interface, audio drop outs and plainly to put it, pure hell.  I was seeking helf from this forum, cakewalk, focusrite tech support, guys at my local guitar center.  I even had my computer professionally tweaked.  The cool thing about it was I just got X1 back in July and got that interface shortly after and was having problems ever since .  Just got the mbox 3rd generation and all problems solved!

I've now switched to a new MOTU Audio Express and, so far, doing great running rock solid with very low latency...no cracks, pops or hangups.  I really liked the sound and the VRM features of my Pro24DSP but the drivers were just not up to snuff...and Focusrite seems not to be in a hurry to update them.  Too bad.

I have copies of Saffire Mix Control, going back to V1.7.  Send me a PM with an e-mail address and which version you want and I'll send it to you.

When you uninstall the current version, make sure the Saffire Pro 40 is disconnected (or powered off).  Restart the PC before you install the older version.   If you just uninstall and reinstall, bits of the new version can be left and get reinstalled.

The 2.4 driver had problems; I suggest using the improved beta version instead of going backwards:
