Any Slate VCC Users?
Slate's VCC is half-price today. It received a great review in SOS recently. Anyone here using it with Sonar? How do you like it?

Yeah, I just bought today as well, based on that same SoS review. For $138 (including ilok 2) it seemed hard to pass up. I also got the all inclusive nomad line for $99 from don't crack. Damm you black Friday sales!!!

How is VCC regarding system performance/resources? My PC is getting a bit old at this point and I wonder if it will run VCC well.

yorolpal Use it. Love it. Myolpal knows we differ on this product . But for mastering I really suggest Slate's FG-X.

FG-X is top notch. So is FabFilter's Pro-L

Gaffpro Bapu: What don't you like about the VCC? It's not that I don't like it, it is so subtle that I see no value in it. Not that I want dramatic things (ok, maybe I do) but it just did not add anything for me. YMMV.

"its sole aim is to mimic the subtle, non‑linear distortion and noise that you get when passing a fluctuating voltage through a complex arrangement of analogue components. According to Fabrice Gabriel, the noise is particularly important: “I found out that there was not only ‘one’ type of noise, that there was a lot of different behaviours in each console, and that the noise was not as static as we could believe.” I've no idea either.

I've never heard a real RCA desk.....but I'm very familiar with a Trident, Neve, and SSL I'm not sure at this point if it's worth it

Hi Dave, just listened to a few of your tunes & although you'd get decent results with FG-X it's better suited for louder rock, R & B & metal. It doesn't play nice with soft/ quieter material. I'd try the demo but I think you'd be better off with a more transparent limiter like FabFilter's Pro-L or the new Flux Elixir limiter. By the way the VCC is a channel console emu, placed on channels & used more with mixing tracks in mind. It's not mastering software like FG-X although I use it in my mastering chain with great results.

I use it. I think it's important to remember that the consoles it's emulating weren't designed to be "effects" and so the VCC will inherently be subtle. And it certainly is subtle, but I like the sound. I don't think it's a magical night-and-day plugin, but it does impart a nice sound when used. It's like MSG--It just makes things MORE. I got it through the initial iLok2 RCA deal and then upgrade to the full. I don't think I'd pay any more than that for what it does.

Well.... I bit. Getting thewhole deal (including iLok) for half-price was too good to pass up. This will be my first experience using an iLok, so we'll see how that goes... It's supposed to arrive within the next few days. Should be fun playing around with the VCC this weekend!
