Kontakt 5 upgrade--talk me into it (quickly)

Is Kontakt 5 worth the $119 upgrade price today?  I have Kontakt 4 (and Kompete 6 & 7).  Given that I am using more third party libraries, i am thinking of upgrading Kontakt to v5.

Why should I?

    If you have Kontakt 4 you should be covered for handling any of the libraries out there that require it. I am not sure what would require Kontakt 5. I have it and, honestly, it is more just a basket to hold the sample libraries I am using. If you are a major Kontakt hacker then maybe some of the newer features are worth it to you.

    No, that looks like standard upgrade MSRP... wait for the next general 50% off sale, you'll get it for $60... assuming thet still have such a sale in the future...

    Yes - I have been wathing this one for a while. There has been a time limited crossgrade off for Kontakt 4 to Komplete 8 for $399, that expires at the end of the year.
     
    I decided to pass on the Komplete update and wait to upgrade Kontakt 5 untill I am forced into it. (A new third party K5 only product I really want for example.)
     
    A word of warning, NI have made all their libraries K5 only. If you but any of them you will be forced to run K5 player andlonside your full version of K4.

     The nice thing about upgrading is that NI does not penalize someone who has say Kontakt 3 and wants to upgrade to 5 . Their  upgrade pricing structure is pretty good that way, so theres no hurry to upgrade if you are getting along well with Kontakt 4.
     I upgraded from all the way back to Kontakt 2 for 119.00.

    Thought long and hard about Komplete 8 and ultimate but didn't see the changes impacting my life that much...and even NI's 50% off sale on some of their products... couldn't see it being worth the money, when such amazing deals as the 75% off Kirk Hunter packages truly upgraded my rig so phenomenally.

    Yes, that's the 50% off price for the upgrade. The normal upgrade price is well, twice that. There are some very significant changes under the hood such as the Elastique Pro stretch algorithm and the included transient designer.

    Thanks.  I am going to wait.  I have no problems with Kontakt 4, but got the urge because of the Black Friday sale.  I really don't need Kontakt 5.  I think I will probably wait for some great closeout sale somewhere in the future and get Komplete 8 Ultimate.  


    BTW, I must agree with you about Kirk Hunter sale.  I just spent most of my alloted funds on Kirk HunterOrchestra Diamond and Concert Strings 2 which I absolutely love.  That was money well spent!
