Steven Slate Drums Cyber Monday Sale

Not sure if its too late, but I just noticed that Steven Slate Drums 3.5 Platinum & Ex are on sale today at 50% off. I have just purchased the platinum pack.

I havent tried it yet but I am of two minds with it. I have been waiting until they release SSD4 but they keep pushing it back. Everytime I get a response from them they tell me it is a month away, every month. Latest they told me it would be next year. The half price deal looks a good deal so I have grabbed it, but I bet this special pre empts the release of SSD4 and I lose out on the upgrade.

Anyway, I'm sure I'll enjoy it

I just picked up the platinum package because it seemed like a good deal and I figured there has to be some upgrade deal once they release the newest version. So...that is the good news...

The bad news for me is after downloading the software directly from their site (which was tortuously slow) I did the install procedure exactly as documented and it is just a mess. It can't locate any samples. I sent a support request in to Steven Slate Drums and have received nothing but an automated reply that they received my request.

I am not happy about this right now. I could probably spend some time and figure this out for myself but it irks me that a clean install should be so broken and I had to spend time doing other things first.

It's good news in the sense that it can't see any of them. It'll just be a pathway thing. I'd say go over it again but you've properly done that many times. I had it (EX version)where it couldn't find just a few samples and that was a stinker to correct. I assume you've done something like this: Locate the Steven Slate Drums Library folder. If you don't see a Samples folder, create a new folder and name it Samples. Drag the files into the Samples folder. It'll name what files. Did you write 'Samples' exactly like that?

Im still waiting and waiting and waiting for the download but I have read the instructions while I am waiting and this bit to me isnt 100% clear. At the moment all the samples are in folders (cymbals, kicks/toms etc). Do you drag just the samples out of these folders into the Samples folder or do you drag the "parent" folders into the Sample Folder?

I have the cymbals, toms etc in an Instruments folder, which is inside my 'Steve Slate Drum EX Library' folder (I have EX) and I'm sure they were placed there automatically. The 'Samples' folder (which you may have to create yourself) consists of the NKC NKX type files. There should instructions as to what to drag in and place where.

I can't remember what the procedure was to install now it was a long time ago, but I do know that following the instructions to the letter worked for me, also they are good (or were) at replying to support issues via email.

Well I am going to try to resolve this tonight but right now I am just slammed with other things. I can say I have yet to hear back from them about my support request. I did follow the instructions exactly and made sure when I unzipped the files I used 7-zip and the "unzip here" option.

I am sure after all is said and done it is no big deal to fix. Just annoying to have to spend time debugging installation issues instead of actually using the product. Also not encouraging to have had nothing but an automated response so far from support.

I have to say that I have been bugging them with questions a fair bit of late and always found them to be pretty good and reliable with responses.

Ok....my own problems now. I have downloaded and installed it and it appears to work fine as stand alone but cant get it to appear as plugin in SHSXL6. I installed it to the default location and I am now wondering if I should have intalled it to the VST shared folder. Not game to reinstall because these things can get messy with licensing etc. I suspect that I can create a folder in teh VST shared folder and move something there but its not immediately obvious what it is I move there.

I guess I'll wait for a response from SSD

So you're using the Kontakt free player and it's not showing up?

I can get the Kontakt player to work stand alone, and can get the SSD drums to appear in it, but cant get it to appear as a plugin in SHSXL6

I think I have worked it out, I found 3 x.dll's in the Native Instruments folder that I moved to the VST plugins folder in cakewalk. Seems to work. My question, in my plugins it now gives me the option of Kontakt 3, Kontakt 3 18 out or Kontakt 3 8out. I have selected just Kontakt 3. Is that correct?
