Using V-Studio 20 Version on Guitar Tracks vs Upgraded Tracks or another DAW

Using V-Studio 20 Version on Guitar Tracks vs Upgraded Tracks or another DAW

Does anyone have an opinion as to whether the workflow or enjoyment of using V-studio 20 decreases if you don't use the V-studio 20 specific version of Guitar Tracks?  I noticed the custom version looks like the V-studio 20.
 
Do you miss the "mirrored" controls when using other DAWs or upgraded Tracks?

    Hi there Chris, welcome to the forum.
     
    I'd say, if anything, the VS-20 would be much more useful, and certainly more enjoyable, with any compatible recording software rather than with the version of Guitar Tracks that comes bundled with it.
     
    This basic Guitar Tracks is very limited in features and editing options. Either Guitar Tracks Pro, or any other Cakewalk software for that matter, will really allow you to exploit the features of the VS-20 to the full.
     
    I use mine with Cakewalk's SONAR X1 and they are a match made in heaven.

    Thanks Steve.  So if you don't use the bundled Guitar Track, you can still access all the features in a different way?  Good to here.  A little surprising as the tight integration of the GT bundled and the hardware device, specifically the "mirrored" controls, I would think was useful.
     
    I think I'll stay with the bundled GT for awhile.  Why?  Well what I bought and like about the product is the speed and simplicity to go from sitting down and recording.  While more complex software/DAWs, I always seem to get pulled into the software rather than making music.

    Chris, I think the reason the bundled software integrates with the VS-20 so closely is more because of a limitation of the software, rather than the versatility of the VS-20.
     
    With the capabilities and the sophistication of more advanced DAW software, the VS-20 really comes into its own, if that makes any sense!

    Yes, makes sense.  So the only issue from using the bundled GT is in ProTools, or REAPER, or Studio One for example, you would need to map the controllers on the v-studio 20, where as with the bundled GT - it's all pre-mapped?
