NI Macshine IPad APP...can it be used as a midi controller??

Maybe with the Alesis Dock thingy??  I was thinking about getting the Macshine Mikro to use as both itself and a midi drum controller but then I saw they've got an iPad APP.  Anybody know anything about this??  Also...I saw that they had some sort of deal for those of us who were Kore 2 users for the big Macshine...does that go for the Mikro too??
