Hi all I hope you can help ?

I have been asked to send a project I have made useing Sonar X1c to someone to do a re mix and they will be useing Cubase at there studio.

Could anyone please tell me the correct way to do this so I know it will load up with no problems when it gets to there studio ?

Thanks in advance for all help.

You must find out if Cubase supports OMF files. If it does, you must save your project as OMF. That's the only inter-DAW project format. The other option is to save each track separately as a Broadcast Wav, and your friend has to import it track by track into a new project (preferably to one with tempo originally set to the exact tempo of the project).

Someone savvy will surely chime in to tell more details, as I have never used OMF. I do think, though, that your project must be all audio without VSTs even when using OMF..

Remembering some threads on this subject I don't think even OMF guarantees that there will be no problems.

     Thanks for the reply Kalle

I will check and see if they can use OMF

Not haveing vst's I used wont be a problem it has been a pop punk band I have been recording and they have asked another studio to do a dub step remix for them.
As I have never attempted a dub step mix its for the best they have it re mixed with someone else.

When working on collabs, the only one who really needs WAVES is the person planning to do the final mix. All others can do their supporting work easily by using the MP3 versions and importing them into their DAW's.

Herb, they're planning to do a re-mix in the Cubase studio, so they do need all the tracks in high quality.

It's 'having' and 'using'. Not 'haveing' and 'useing'... Sorry, but that was really bugging me... If it's for a remix like you say, prob easier to go with .wav stems. You can probably get away with mixing all drum tracks down to a single stereo file. Group other similar things too, like all vocals together, or main vocals the all harmonies grouped. Stretch the lead in time of every stem back to the start then export the .wavs. When they are imported into cubase, they will thus line up perfectly. Talk with the guys and find out what separate instruments the might want control over to minimize the number of stems you need to make.

OMF files can be hit and miss sometimes. I would not pre mix anything either as as soon as you do that they will ask for something to be separated from the mix.

You need to convert every track in your session into either mono or stereo wave files that are all of the same length from start to finish so they can drag all these tracks into Cubase and line them up from the start and it should be good to go. (note wave files NOT mp3 files)

What you may need to do is decide if you are going to print tracks with any effects applied. They may not want those as well so check into that.

      Hi Jeff !
    Hope you are well ?
Thanks to all I will be sending them the Waves then :)
I have been asked to send everything with no effects applied so I will make sure to disable all plugs in the session.
