Control Surface or StudioLive

I am currently using the Tascam FW1082 on Windows 7 x64 Pro, I have a Gigabyte board with a TI fireware chipset, and am using Sonar X1c, and plan on purchasing expanded in January. My problem is the Beta drivers for the Tascam are funky at best. There are times that the sound (and when in sonar, control) just cuts out. It is frustrating when listening to music while working on homework or recording. I have to restart the computer to get sound back. I understood the risks when I upgraded to Windows 7, but it may be too much, and I have 8gb of ram, and plan on jumping to 16 soon, so XP is out of the question... So here is what I am considering. I really like the Studio Live 16.4.2 (and the 16.0.2) except that it doesn't have the control surface, so I would still be using mouse and keyboard. But the phat channel looks amazing. Another option is to get another All in one unit like the M-Audio Projectmix or the Digidesign Command 8 The last option would be to get a firewire/usb interface and either pickup a different control surface, or just use the control surface in the tascam and cut out the audio, but this seems redundant to me. So I am not sure. I really like the V-studio 700, but that is out of my budget...and I am not really interested in the Vstudio 100, I like the concept, but I don't think it works for me... What do you guys think?
