Now I did it - Bapu's Christmas Prezzie to hisownself

Waves Mercury Bundle.

I purchased it from Waves Universe. Only drawback is that I had previously purchased the $99 bass rider. Could have applied that towards the purchase price but, Oh well.

Big question. Since there are so many plugs, does each one take an iLok license or is the bundle one iLok license?

I bet it's a bundle license.  My signature series are like that.  I think you're about covered now.  Or are you?

One could argue that either way.

WUP for one year was included in this purchase. Is there more to it than that?

Actually Bapu I dont know the particulars but I do read a lot of biotching about the Waves Business practice in regards to the WUP. I would think "if" its only $200 , then in regards to your initial investment of Mercury, ya have to decide if it is worth it for any potential upgrades...

On the surface it would seem that $200 cap (as they call it) for a $6000 MSRP product is a sound (pun included for free) price IF they release 3 or 4 plugs a year that can be had at street price of say $99.

I've upgraded SONAR each year for almost that same amount, no? And it's MSRP has never been over $1000.

Now see this is where I am confused about WUP. You're saying any NEW plugs released are FREE? I assumed (theres that word) that updates and upgrades were free to the products you now own under WUP.

Hold on. I'm not saying anything is free. I'm just interpreting that (as I think I've seen) when a new plug is released they typically say "Mercury users are entitled to this".

    I may be wrong.

So I guess the next year will tell me what I get with WUP and I'll decide on December 7th 2012 if it's worth it to re-up the WUP.

Does the Bapu not have a "been good" requirement like Santa?

Or was all that stuff a UFS* told me about you a lie?

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

I tried a portion of the waves stuff. I don't know - to me it was like the Taco Bell of plugs. 5 ingredients - yet they make 25 different meals out of them. Tasty ingredients though that's for sure.

I'll have a wahgordita compresso tremolator, except I'd like black beans instead of refried. And an order of nachos dwell grande reverb.
