Audio / Pitch Bend
Is there any tools to help 'fix' pitch for audio tracks......and yes, I'm talking about my 'flat' singing. I'd love to be able to nudge it slightly up to be closer to pitch. Any thoughts?

Melodyne Editor www.celemony.com Go to the web site and down load the demo and try it. Quite a few here use Editor or some other version of Melodyne. also V Vocal is a lesser audio tool to do the same I use ME on all my vocal tracks.

A freebie that you might want to experiment with is GSNAP. Melodine and the X1 upgrades to get V Vocal are rather expensive. If you are using an LE version I'm going to assume that you have some price constraints. http://www.gvst.co.uk/gsnap.htm Give it a try. It might just work for you. Glen

Pat, while there are free and lower cost programs out there to do the pitch correction, Melodyne is currently the best one that I am aware of. It is available in the essential version for $99. It has the basic tools for note pitch, timing and separation. The good thing about Melodyne is that when it is used properly, the result is a flawless performance with no artifacts. comparison chart>>> http://www.celemony.com/cms/index.php?id=383

Guitarhacker.....is Melodyne Essentials compatible to work inside Cakewalk's MC 6?

Yes. It will work just fine. I used Melodyne Editor for several years in MC4.

doesn't it still depend on the version as to whether it works from inside MC or not? I have an older version that does not work inside - it's standalone only (or rewire, but that never worked well for melodyne)

Not as far as I know. I used MC4 (as you know) for years and Melodyne plug in and later Editor, when they upgraded me, worked just fine in MC4. I used it as few times in MC5 (I didn;t use 5 much) and now as I have migrated to X1, ME continues to function smooth as ever. I'm thinking the 32/64 bit issue might prevent it from working in the wrong OS, but I'm on 32 with everything and it works fine. Always has.

yep - looks like the new versions all work as VST's. that wasn't the case when I bought mine. http://www.celemony.com/cms/index.php?id=383 but I don't ever even use it any more. I just use v-vocal since it's so convenient.

Everything pointed to the Melodyne program doing the trick, but it does not appear to be compatible with MC6. I tried two things, first, I tried to simply open an audio file in Melodyne which was created in MC6. Something about the WAV format is not compatible with Melodyne. Then I try to load the Melodyne Singletrack as a ReWire plugin onto the track with the audio I want to 'fix', and I get a message suggesting that Melodyne is not compatible with this DAW. Unless I'm doing this wrong, I'll try GSnap and V-Vocal next.

I see now that V-Vocal is a Roland product that looks like it is specific to Sonar. Any chance that it will work with MC6?

Ok, let me withdraw what I said before I steer anybody in the wrong direction. It does appear that the Melodyne VST does work. My problem was that the plugin path was not set in Cakewalk, so the VST plugin was not loading. It appears to work, now I just have to figure out how to work it.

I was just getting ready to ask if you selected to install it as a VST because some plug-ins ask you how you want it to install. (stand alone or VST or both) and then of course, the next question would be did you scan it into the plugin manager. Glad you got it figured out.
