no sound
Hi I have music creator 6 on Windows 7 and I put driver on MME because that's what the videos suggested. I'm using Realtek digital output and no sound comes out. I don't have a recording device and I'm trying to use the midi notes. On one file the sound works but on the rest it doesnt. Wav files don't work when I import them. I have sound everywhere else, on the internet and on windows media player. Please help.

Under Edit>Preferences, what is listed for Playback Device and Recording Device? Did you set each track to output to a synthesizer (MIDI) or your playback device (audio)?

What I and FastBikerBoy asked you in "Get Started" section concerning this same question still applies. You could have as well answered those questions right here, so we don't need to ask the same things a second time... You really need to read the questions we ask and answer them. Otherwise we're unable to help.

I did not see the first thread, but a good idea, once you ask a question, is to reply to that thread in that thread. Posting across various forums here is nothing short of confusing for the people trying to help you. So.... answer the questions posted for you and we can help you get started. Once you get this figured out and working, you;re gonna like it.

Take a chill pill folks. I moved my topic to this section because I thought it would be more relevant. Plus I added information based on your questions. I thought I just gave the information 57Gregy asked but I'll clarify. For Playback Device I have Realtek Digital Output. For Recording Device I have nothing yet. The soundcard is the computer's built in soundcard: Acer 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller I've tried all the suggestions but nothing works. Sometimes when I playback the midi notes it shows activity on the fader but no sound. Sometimes it doesn't show any activity. The only file the sounds works on sets the output to Cakewalk TTS 1, but for the others it doesn't provide that option. What does this mean?

We don't need chill pills, thanks. You're not supposed to have a separate tool for recording and playback. Your only soundcard should be shown both as recording and playback timing master, as well as in the Input/output-driver window. That internal chip does not support ASIO (The most recommendable driver) so try MME, WDM or ASIO4ALL (free DL). Your best option is to get a proper sound card. You can never do serious DAW work using the integrated Realtek chip. Your explanation about TTS-1 remains unclear to me. Do you know how to use soft synths in general? MIDI always needs an instrument be heard, because it's just silent data.

Watanabe... first things first. Audio is easier so lets get that working first. Midi requires some other steps and routing so it's not as easy. Open a new project and import an existing wave or MP3 into an audio track and hit playback to see if you get sound out of the computer speakers. If yes, we can move on..... if No, we need to change some settings until we get sound. You will not get the good results you would normally expect to get using a factory Realtec card simply because those cards are designed to play MP3s and computer sounds and are not designed for the massive data that MC will try to put through them. This is where the aftermarket Musical Interfaces that we all use will really shine. However, it is possible to record and playback smaller audio projects with the factory cards. Set the driver to MME and run the wave profiler. settings of 16/44.1 are probably advised too. Then try the import of the mp3/wave to the audio track and see what happens let us know the results.

So TTS-1 is inserted. Did you do that by using track templates or an instrument track? Or did you insert TTS-1 yourself using the Insert menu at the top? TTS-1 can receive data from up to 16 MIDI tracks, so the other MIDI tracks should have it as an output option. If not, that's strange. When using TTS-1 and many other soft synths, use different MIDI channels for each track. The RealTek will not show as a recording device if there is nothing plugged into the mic input or line-input. If you plug in something (mic, CD player, line-out from a mixer, etc.) it should show up as the recording device. Try starting from scratch. Open a new project using the Normal template. Go to Insert at the top and select TTS-1. That will insert the synth and a MIDI track (if the Create MIDI Source Track option box is checked). Insert more MIDI tracks. Set each MIDI track's output to TTS-1. Set different channels and patches in each MIDI track. Click some notes in several of the MIDI tracks. What happens?

56Gregy, I'm using track templates. What do you mean by setting different channels. guitarhacker, the wav worked when i set to mme and changed playback device to speakers. now i have to figure out how to get midi to work.

OK very good. leave the settings like that for now. We know the audio is working. Now... follow my instructions on my website: Music & Recording page..... setting up TTS for multiple instrument playback. That will help you to understand the midi channels. Set up the drums in TTS first to get an idea how it all works. Midi is always a 2 track event. One track holds the midi data, the second track holds the synth output for audio. You record the data into the MIDI track, you set the midi output to go to the synth input and you should have music. Some synths require a patch or sample set/instrument to be loaded as well. But it's that simple once you understand it.
