loops

How can I scavenge a song and create my own loops and save them in MC 6?

    Welcome.

Quick answer: Import the song into a track in a new project.

Use the zoom feature to widen the timeline.

Find the place you want in the song, and click the track to highlight/select it.

In the dropdown menu that opens, select SPLIT and click OK (at the beginning of the clip you want)

Repeat the SPLIT at the end of the clip/loop and waaa laaaa.... you have it.

It would probably help to have the song tempo match the BPM set in the project...and have the song lined up to the measures in the project and have the snap to grid set to ON and Measures (or at the very least 1/8 notes so the splits occur on the beats so the loop is able to be exactly a certain length.

If the loop is not 2, 4, 6, or 8 (or more even) beats exactly, timing issues WILL occur

    Hope this helps.

You do know that there are ready to go loops available already.... right?

Thank you and I will try it now. I need to scavenge my Punjabi Bhangra songs for my kinda thing. LOL! Cakewalk is not educated enough or civilized in those areas! :) Just kidding. Thanks again for the quick reply. If you were in Alberta, Canada I woulda bought you a beer.
