PRV track panel color is different

Can someone tell me why my note colors in PRV are way different than the track pane associated with the notes?
Thanks very much,
Randy

How different is "way different"? The shade of PRV note colors will change with velocity and selection status, but it should still be in the same "family".

You have the Violins track selected as the active track, but not shown in the PRV. If you make Truepianos or Dim Pro Bass the active track, I think you will find that the shades are closer together - i.e. the notes of the active track will get darker. If you then select some notes in the active track as well, they should be pretty much the same as the color patch in the tracks pane.

Yessir you are right, if I select a track it is very close to the same color but I mean why do all the other tracks freak out when I select a track other than theirs?
Can I change this to where they stay the same color but not highlighted?

The non-active tracks just get a lot lighter so that the active track stands out. Depending on the color, I agree it can be hard to see the relationship at a glance. I don't think there's any way to disable that, but you can disable the velocity-based shading by setting PRVColorizeVelocity=0 in Cakewalk.ini.

Wow, I don't even see how it's possible to tell when there's a bunch of tracks....I mean I agree that the mustard yellow does look more like the brownish color than the bluish color but if there were 20 tracks there I just don't see how one can tell.

If that would not alter the colors I would like that much better...would it be too much trouble to explain how to do that my friend?
    Thanks very much,

Cakewalk.ini will be in a path like:

    C:\Users\Randy\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\SONAR X1 Producer\

Open it in Notepad, add PRVColorizeVelocity=0 under the [WinCake] section, save it, and restart SONAR. If there's no [WinCake] section, you can just add it.

    Thanks Dave,
I might have done something wrong but I copy/pasted that right underneath WinCake and it didn't seem to do anything....thanks anyway bud, I guess I'll just deal with it if no one else is complaining.

You wouldn't notice a big difference. With PRVColorize enabled, a note with a velocity of 64 will match the color patch in the tracks pane. As the velocity decreases, the color becomes less saturated, and vice versa. It's fairly subtle in comparison to the active/non-active/selected changes.

Okay Dave, I'm seeing an advantage to this feature now that I've let my guard down some.
I started getting used to it and then found variations of color within the same instrument. This pic has no notes selected, can you tell me why the colors are different please?

Hard to be sure without seeing the full picture of what's active/selected and what's in the velocity pane. But based on the title of the image, I would have to say the second group of notes are just all at lower velocity than the first. That's what PRVColorizeVelocity does when enabled.

I usually see more variable continuously variable shading because I record everything in real time with natural velocity variation. But if you copy-pasted bits from different sources or manually entered notes at different times with different default velocities, you could get a group of notes that all have the same velocity, but lower then another group like that.
