Need help mastering song

I recorded a multi-track song years ago on a Tascam 80-8 and mixed it on an analog mixer. I later tried to mix/master it in Cakewalk but was unable to make it sound like a real professional mix - or even an acceptable vinyl record sounding mix. Is there someone out there willing to mix and master this song using X1 Producer only [and the tools provided with it] and send it back to me in a Cakewalk Bundle format so I can learn on my own song how to properly use equalization, effects, busses, chains, compression, etc.? I can't tell you how much I would appreciate someone taking on this task. Files are large enough to necessitate me sending them on CD to the person willing to help.

You wont learn by seeing what someone has done to your project as you never do the same things on each song. Your best bet is to learn your tools and learn the art of mixing and mastering.

I would also spend some $$$ on tuning your room and getting a decent monitoring chain so you can hear the true sounds of your tracks.

Get the Anderton videos and do it yourself.  Your can watch too at no extra charge!  I just did this from a copy from an 80-8 our band use to own and record on.  Get a good brickwall limiter--T-Racks is good--and this will help a lot.

I have a blast "mastering" the old tapes.

CJays right about this. If you want your tracks to sound the way you want them, then you need to learn how to use the tools. EQ, compressor in the mixing stage. Youtube has some great videos on how to use these effects. Izotope's Ozone is a great way to Master your tracks. Their presets are a excellent starting place. I would say most everyone here has learned how to mix/master on their own with the trial error approach. Take your time, use your ears and you'll get there. Best of luck.

Update: Thanks to all of you for the sage advice! I bought the Anderton videos and have been trying to learn from those. I also added Waves Gold native to my VST collection and bought the Anthony Egizii book that goes along with it and learned a bunch there too. Hopefully, I can soon share one of my songs with all of you. I did get a chance to listen to "Bitflipper's" Monkey with a Jigsaw recently and was absolutely blown away. The imaging, depth and his ability to get the instruments to drop down in the mix was superb. It certainly is one of the best mixes I have heard on this forum.
