Best Sonar PE with V-Studio 700

First, if this thread appears to be ignorant, it is because I've been "out of pocket" for over a year and a half (out of country and away from my V-Studio).  Secondly, I really didn't become that proficient at Sonar and V-Studio prior to departing which further fuels my ignorance.

Because I've been away, I've kind of lost touch with the updates and etc with the Sonar 8.  I currently have Sonar 8 with my V-Studio 700 with NO updates.  I understand Sonar has upgraded to 8.5 which should be compatible with the V-Studio 700.  Now, the latest version of X1 PE has been  out.  I want to upgrade but I am concerned whether or not the X-1 PE will be compatible with the V-Studio 700.  I have not found anything which makes upgrading to X-1 very enticing -- if I want to use the V-Studio 700.  So, my question is, is it better just to upgrade to 8.5 or is X-1 a better option?

Was still a very green Sonar 8 Producer Edition user when graduating to a very green Sonar X1 Expanded user.  Now, upgraded to Sonar X3c from X2 (but never had the time to get proficient with it.)
Cakewalk V-Studio 700 and with VS-700R.

I use it with X1 and if you're willing to learn some new shortcuts then you really can upgrade to X1.

There's no big deal, for me at least, that justify staying with an older version. The complains you hear on this forum are almost things that are expected since the introduction of the system and not related only to X1.

X1 is awesome and the prochannel alone justify the upgrade price. Be shure to install the X1c update and you'll be happy!
