Jim or anyone.. ie9 and the forum sftware... better yet? Also slow running script problem

I tried ie9 a couple of times, I know about Firefox etc but want to use ie if it is working with the forum without being all hinky like it was.

Also I have been having a problem for about a month with certain pages (I was thinking maybe ie9 would help with this). Most pages load fast and run fine but a few, Sweetwater for instance, freeze when I open them. In a moment I get a message telling me that the is a script running and if it continues to run it may make my browser unstable and asks if I want to stop running it... however if I click yes it remains frozen and if I click on the page it goes white for maybe 20-30 seconds then I have to hit yes again and then it stops responding again for about the same time, usually two time will stop it then everything is fine but it is aggrivating, so I am wondering if ie9 will fix it... but I don't want to fix it at the expense of the forum here not working right. I tried ie9 two or three times but got tired of it because on this forum when I would post I would get an error and have to refresh, the post would show up after I refresh as if I had just posted but I just want things to work right and I sick to death of these "running script messages" I have updated all the optional Windows updates and I upgraded Flash, but I think I was already using 11.xxx
I don't know hat else I can check or update. I used the HP advisr and it tells me everything is up to date. All I can think to try is ie0 or another browser. I will go to Firefox if I need to. I don't want t use Chrome. I just dont want to give Google that much, the Google searchpage is already my homepage.

I have upgraded, updated and run Malwarebytes and I leave Norton 360 to run unless I go offline with X1. I used to be able to use Hijackthis pretty well with XP but I am not certain about some of the things in the registry in W7. If anyone is good with HJT logfiles I will be glad to send one if you can look at it.

I am pretty happy except for these script errors, or "slow running script" message.... THAT  the slow running script is the only reason I am thinking about trying ie9 again. For me ie8 seems fine, though I know I will have to upgrade to 9 anyway at some point just to stay up with tech.

OH, I also tried unclicking the disable script debugging, and the box under it in Internet options/advanced and I clicked display or report all script problems (may not be exact wording but the options are all grouped together in advanced).

Please.. if you have any ideas, considering that I want to try ie9 before switching to something else... I just understand the security options with ie better... more in my comfort zone if you will. I'm not interested in thughtless opinions of what you like or dont like unless there is a reason you can share with me. I am very interested in figuring out why I am having "slow running script" problems on some pages. I fear I have some mild malware or some other bug that W7 is able to handle, though with a little trouble.

I may go ahead and run through the self help on the malware forums as whatthetech.com or spywareinfo.com but if you have any help, please tell me what you think I might try and before I install ie9 again...is it working with the Cakewalk forum now?

Thank you... SO much!

Julien

    Hi Julien,

FWIW, I always sit out the initial releases of IE.
Stick with v8 for a little while longer... and wait for the kinks to be ironed out.
ie: When version 8 came out, it caused problems with ProTools.

    Hi Julien,

I've mentioned this before so not sure if you tried this.  I found I solved all the IE9 and forum issues as long as I keep the zoom level at 100%.  Changing it to anything else and I get freezing.  Hope this helps.

    Cheers,

I've given up on IE altogether after the snails-pace speed of IE9. I mostly use Firefox but even that can get hoggish sometimes with regard to memory. Chrome has impressed me. I thought it was a cheap gimmicky browser but apparently it's the browser of choice for those that spend a lot of time online. It's my secondary browser (I have multiple webmail accounts and having a second browser makes things easier) on this PC, and it's the primary browser on my Mac laptop. Uses very little resources.

No problems with IE here.  Firefox has given me disasterous results on past computers so I will never recommend or use it.  IE has been great to me on my last 3 systems.

I use Norton and also AdAware and scan daily.  Ad-Aware is a free program, not sure if Malware is the issue but it can't hurt to check and scan for it.  Ad-aware always finds stuff Norton doesnt catch.

I went ahead and upgraded to ie9 again and it fixed everything!!! The forum works as it should and the "slow running scripts" are now gone.
I read up on Chrome and it seems to have some serious security flaws.

Anyway, everything is good now but I see they are working on IE 10 and Windows 8... I'll probably stay where I am for a while, I just hope they don't move the buttons and functions again.

edit> Mike, I use Ad-Aware, Malwarebytes, Hijackthis, and Norton... IMO, Norton has gotten very good along with W7. Everything seems to work very well and stay clean a lot easier than XP did.
