Sonar X1 Producer Expanded

I have been a long time user of Cakewalk Sonar and I am now looking to upgrade to an automated mixing desk.

1. Does the Vstudio 700 work OK with X1 as a control surface?
2. Also I use a FireFace RME800 is there anyneed for the I/O box.
3.  Anyone use this in a video editing context?

I do a large amount of video editing and have now started creating my own custom music.
Syncing audio up with my Matrox MX02 Rack sysyem would be an advantage,.
Penny for your thoughts and repsected opinions as always please.

Thanks

Gary
