VS-20 Interface with Sonar X1 Essentials

Hi 

I love the VS-20 and Guitar Tracks, but felt Guitar Tracks was not enough for what I want to do, which is use VST instruments and make MIDI tracks along side my audio. I went out and purchased SOnar X1 Ess. and the VS-20 interface worked with out pretty much "out of the box", however it doesn't function 100 % the same. I want to still use the control interface to start recording, arm tracks, etc. I thought I heard that there is a way to bring your interface in X1 and configure it? 

Has anyone had experience with this?

    SONAR X1 Essentials is a great choice for an upgrade from GT4, and your VS-20 will certainly play nicely with it! 
      
    Here's how to set it up as a Control Surface for X1.
     
    Make sure the VS-20 is connected to your PC with the USB lead and then open X1. In X1, select Edit > Preferences > (MIDI) Control Surfaces and click on the Add new Controller/Surface icon:
     
     
      
      
    Scroll down the drop-down list that opens and select the VS-20 to assign it as your Control Surface:
     

     
     
    Now use the drop-down arrows on the main Control Surface window to set both the Input Port and Output Port to VS-20 DAW Control (if they haven't been set automatically):
     

     
     
    Finally, click on Apply and OK and you should be good to go.
