How do I load soft synths into MC 6?

Once they are loaded I know how to add them to the project...I just can't get Cakewalk to recognize the dll file for Dimension LE that I have had since MC4...I also will want to add Live Synth Pro and others but so far I have struck out...

You must use the Cakewalk plug in manager to get it to see the new VST's you add.

Open preferences by pressing P on the keyboard (or FILE>Preferences) In Preferences:  File>VST preferences> top of the window. click ADD and pop it in there.   Navigate to the folder with the synth DLL in it and click ADD.

then run the scan. close the PIM and load the synth.

ALL synths and FX in VST form are added this way.

let us know if you need more help.

By pop it do you mean add the folder where the dll file resides because that is what I have done...In this case the folder I added is a subfolder of the ...cakewalk/vstplugins folder and still no go...

    Two things to check

    1) After you added the VST directory, did you do a full scan (check all three check-boxes and press "Scan VST Folders button)? If you moved the .dll files you may need to do a reboot (just supersticious learning here).

    2) Check the VST Plugins subdirectory on the Synth selection dialog box.  They may show up under it.  If you want to move them from there you can do so with the plug-in manager.

I did a full scan, pressed the  "Scan VST Folders button) rebooted and nothing...  This used to be so simple in prior versions, toss the dll file in the directory, scan it and voila.  Like I said in my other post if it ain't broke then don't fix it...

are you maybe using Win7x64?  if so, I believe DIMLE will not work.  IIRC DimLE was DX only and being 32bit DX it will not work on 64bit windows.  you'd have to upgrade to DimPro to get it to work on a 64bit OS.

That sounds logical...I just upgraded to 64 bit too...Too bad, it had a really great bass sound that I was fond of...

Just out of curiosity - There is a Dim Pro LE update in the support area.  Have you tried to do the update?
