Special on Nexus 2 library expansions
If you go onto the RefX site you can see they still have their winter sale prices on. One thing they don't say which is really nice is that if you buy more than one library they give you an additional discount on all of the other ones you buy. You end up paying $46.75 for libraries that normally cost $65 and are already discounted to $55. Pretty good stuff. Ken

Kroneborge Great sounding libraries for sure. I love synths and I have to say that the libraries for Nexus 2 completely blow every other library away which is saying a lot cause I have Omnisphere. It is a lot more tweakable than people have given it credit for although far less than Z3Ta 2 and Omnisphere. Those libraries are just killer though. Ken

Agreed, I have Omnisphere, Alchemy, Z3ta, Complete 5 etc, but the sounds from Nexus just shine. The trance gate especially just works SO easy.

That trancegate is pure genius. You can create the same effect in any synth using a real gate as an effect but it is just so much more of a pain in the butt. I never thought a synth could even come in the same zip code as Omnisphere for fantastic pre-sets and playability but Nexus is just amazing. Definitely one of my best purchases in the last year's buying frenzy. I already bought 7 expansion libraries though lol. Every one of them was worth it too! Alchemy so far is not nearly as great as I thought it was going to be. I got the newest voices library for it which is nice but after playing with Nexus it just seems like a second place finisher. I really have to give it a better chance I suppose. What do you think of Alchemy? Am I missing something magical? I got it cause I wanted an additive synth. The newest Muzeum libraries for Z3Ta2 that were posted by the way are just great and they were free. Check them out if you haven't. I was really impressed. Ken

Alchemy has some nice sounds, although I would agree that overall their presets don't sound as good as Nexus. That being said, I do definitely still use it. It's also much more powerful for building your own, or tweaking some audio. I've done some stuff where I put in a vocal sample and then tweaked it (I think with granular synsthis) for some pretty good effects. It's routing system in particular allows for some very cool stuff. It's a very deep synth. But preset to preset, I give Nexus the edge.

I am going to do what I normally do when I get a piece of software like Alchemy which is to really delve into the manual with the software in front of me and just lock myself away with it till I get a grasp. I had gotten it at the same time as Nexus 2 and just played with it a bit which is just sort of unfair. Thanks for motivating me to do the right thing and give this piece of kit a proper shakedown! There is a series of excellent videos on the camel audio website that will help you really dig into alchemy. I would start there.
