Hi Guys,
This is tricky. If you wiped the firmware, it might need someone from Roland U.S. to directly service it.
I HAVE recovered from this situation with a VS-700C before. The steps are very, very specific though. I can't guarantee they'll work, but here's the approach I would take:
1) Put the VS-700C DIP switches into stand-alone mode (DIP switch 1 "On"). Connect the USB cable to the VS-700C only and power on the unit. (ignore the fact that Windows can't install drivers)
2) Download the "V-Studio 700C Stand Alone Windows Drivers 2.0" from here:
http://www.cakewalk.com/D...aspx?Prod=V-Studio+700 3) Save this file to your desktop.
4) Right-click on the downloaded folder and select
"Extract...". Make sure to extract this folder to your desktop as well.
5) In Windows, open the Run Command by holding down the Windows key on your keyboard and pressing "r"
6) Type in the following and then click
[OK]:
devmgmt.msc 7) Locate the VS-700 in your Device Manager. This may be listed under "Sound, Video and Game Controllers" or under "Other Devices" and will probably have an exclamation point next to it
8) Right-click on "VS-700" or "VS-700C" and select
"Update Driver Software" 9) When asked "How do you want to search for driver software", select
[Browse my computer for driver software] 10) Afterwards, on the "Browse for driver software..." window, click on
[Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer] 11) On the "Select the device driver you want to install for this hardware" window, click on the
[Have Disk] button
12) On the "Install From Disk" window, click on the
[Browse] button on the bottom right corner
13) Navigate to the folder that you downloaded and extracted in the Locate File menu. This will be something like:
C:\Users\~USERNAME~\Desktop\VS700C_StandAlone__Win_Drivers_v2.0\Windows_Win7x64_drivers\VS700C_Win7x64_v200\Files 14) Select the "RDIF1088" file and click
[Open] 15) Click
[OK] on the "Install From Disk" window and then click
[Next] on the "Select the device driver..." window.
16) A progress bar should indicate the driver is being updated followed by a screen saying "Windows has successfully updated your driver software".
17) Click
[Close] and then close the Device Manager
At this point, your drivers should be re-installed which is what you will need to re-install the firmware.
Now, and this is the
most important part, you will want to update the firmware. You can follow the instructions at
http://www.cakewalk.com/s...der.aspx?ID=2007013192 Definitely pay close attention and follow it step-by-step. I hope this helps. If not I'd definitely give Roland U.S. a ring. It's hard to service firmware via the internet
I'd like to hear how you make out regardless.
