FYI: New Drivers

Not sure what's been updated, looked around for info, called Cake and Roland, nobody knows...??? I installed them anyway and they are running well. Here's the link: http://www.roland.com/sup...s&p=VS-100&id=62226715

Hello Hubie J, I know what you mean, if it ain't broke... (don't break it). Although, the 2.0 drivers are definitely more stable than the original ones. I figured if these new 2.0.1 drivers gave me any trouble, I could always go back. But all seems good.

The new driver is primarily meant to support Roland Octa-Capture latest firmware update v1.50 which can be used with VS-100 (through VS-EXPAND configuration).

Also, I'm noticing that I can set the sample rate directly from Sonar instead of changing it in the VS-100 hardware menus. Not sure whether I was able to do that before. I have both VS-100 and Octa-Capture connected through VS-EXPAND, so I'm not able to specifically isolate VS-100 improvements.

    I would recommend this upgrade.

Do you still have to turn off/on the vs100 after you change it's sample rate from within Sonar?

You're right, I switched off Octa-Capture so that VS-100 operates in stand-alone mode, and I'm not able to apply the sample rate from Sonar. It gives an error and reverts back to the previous sample rate.

So, the VS-100 driver does not provide the ability to change the sample rate from Sonar. However, Octa-Capture added this feature in their latest firmware and driver.

Hopefully, a new VS-100 firmware is in Roland's release list after their major update for Octa-Capture.

I hope i'm wrong, but i think VS100 has received all the attention from Roland/Cake that's it's gonna get. i'd be very pleasantly surprised by a new firmware update.

With even VS-700 users complaining about no updates, I guess the situation looks pretty bleak for VS-100 owners. However, Roland has no new products in $500 interfaces. VS-100 and Octa-Capture are their only products to compete with Motu, Avid, Presonus in this range. I wonder why they are so slow in updating their firmwares?

I would atleast like to have them enable SD card access and recording when connected to computer. Possibly a nice interface to control its settings directly from computer, if that's not asking too much.
